I have been a Ronaldo fan since when I was younger, and he and Scholes made me love football. But I understood football more when Manchester United played Barcelona in the 2011 champion's league Final.

Manchester United was continually disturbed by a young man. He wasn't tall, he was of low gravity.

The ball on his feet kept everyone staled. He was a poetry in motion. Every move was so swift, I couldn't help but wonder if he was human. He made football look so easy. He made it look like nothing. Everyone chased the ball, but the ball obeyed him.

Who does it better than the young man from Rosario, Argentina; the one who came to Europe and changed the way the game was played.

Lionel Messi is my favourite athlete, scholes comes as a close second with Ronaldo. But Messi stands out!

He is not just a footballer, but he is humble and doesn't see himself as the best. He doesn't talk much but allows his skills to do the talking on the pitch.

And on the pitch, he scores, assist, dribbles, breaks not just the defence...but also defender's waist, knees and ankles with a move.

I love the way he glides past players like nothing.
He has won it all: the Champion's league, La liga, Copa del Rey, Copa America and the World cup.

He is a leader on and off the pitch and he is my favourite player because of the way he plays football, his humility and how he leads with love.

Everybody, I present to you Lionel Messi.
