Mohammad Ashraful was the early hero of the rise of Bangladesh cricket. Although he has lost from the national team due to a mistake, but his place in the minds of the millions fans is still intact. I still miss his chiki shot.
In 1996 to 2007 was the golden era of Australian cricket team. From 1996 to 2007, these 12 years were the golden era of the Australian cricket team. In this period of time, they have conquered every part of world cricket. 1999, 2003 and 2007, all 3 world cup won by them.
In that time, Bangladesh was just a kid in world of cricket. Bangladesh was in the number 10 position of world ranking. It was very difficult for every team to beat Australia at that time, where it was a big nightmare for Bangladesh.
In 18 June 2005, Bengali tigers just prove it in the Cardiff stadium. They beat Australia for the first time in the history of Bangladesh Cricket.
Mashrafe Mortaza and Mohammad Rafique has bowled exceptionaly very well.Mashrafe Mortaza to the crucilal wicket of Adam Gilchrist and his bowling spell was 10-2-33-1. Mohammad Rafique had just spent 31 runs in his 10 limited overs. His bowling figure was 10-0-31-0.
The 250-runs target against Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden, Mike Hussey, Jason Gillespie, Glenn McGrath was not easy for Bangladesh.
In the beginning of the Bangladesh's Battings inings, the team led by Habibul Bashar was in big pressussere after losing 3 wickets in 72 runs after 20.5 overs. Javed Omar, Nafis Iqbal and Tushar Imran was gone. Then the little wizard Ashraful just started to presenting his show by building a good partnership with Habibul Bashar. Both of them managed to add 130 runs in next 23 overs.
When Habibul Bashar depart, Bangladesh was in 202-4 in 43 overs. Mohammad Ashraful was still in the wicket and playing exceptionaly very well. After scoring his maiden hundred in 101 balls he's got out in the long. But he already build foundation for the team,
Aftab Ahmed and Mohammad Rafique finished the match smoothly. last over Bangladesh needed 7 runs. Aftab blasted Gillespie's first ball over mid-wicket for six and level the score on the board. In the next delivery he took a quick single and ensure 5 wicckets victory against Australia. It was the most favourite moment for me in Cricket.
Yeah, that time Aussy time was a nightmare to opponents. You must be thrilled with this performance. What happened to Ashraful later was shocking.
