It is said that the day of June 21 is the longest and warmest day. After this, the heat of the sun starts decreasing slightly. But on this day a different heat was seen on the cricket field. The year was 1975. Cricket's first World Cup had advanced to its conclusion on this day. The final was being played at Lord's ground between Clive Lloyd captained West Indies and Ian Chappell led Australian team.

This was the period when Australia's fast bowlers Dennis Lillee and Jeff Thomson had terror in the cricket world. He did not throw balls. At that time, helmets were not in practice and both of these bowlers bowled against whom their target was to injure the players. In 1975, this World Cup was being held for the first time. There were 60 overs. Before reaching the final, two Sri Lankan players had been taken to Jeff Thomson Hospital.

Now the match was for the World Cup. The West Indies were called for batting first. 3 wickets blew at a score of 50. Then came Clive Lloyd, the captain of the West Indies. Killed 102 runs off 85 balls. Is Denise Lilly, Is Jeff Thomson. Everyone smacked the bowlers. Lloyd's innings was exactly the same as that played by Kapil Dev against the West Indies in the 1983 World Cup final. Apart from Lloyd, no Robin Kanhai had scored 55 runs. Total runs scored in 60 overs 291. Australia needed 292 to win.

The batting of Australia started and while fielding here, Sir Viv was in a few avatars on Richards. Australian opener Alan Turner, including Eoin Chappell and Greg Chappell, were run out with a wonderful throw. Dennis Lillee came to play for the last wicket. There were 7 overs left and 54 runs were needed. Jeff Thomson had lived before. This famous pair of bowlers was now at the crease with the bat.

At that time there was no field ban in ODI cricket. Thomson hit the shot and the ball went to Fielder's hand. But before the umpire called it a no-ball, Crowd ran to the ground. People felt that Thomson was out and the West Indies won the match. But it was not so. Both batsmen continued to run. The crowd of spectators had reached the crease and when Fielder threw the ball to the keeper, she lost many in the crowd. When the crowd was removed, the umpire gave Australia only two runs. This was opposed by Thomson and then three runs were given instead of two. In this way, the West Indies won the match by 17 runs.

After this victory of the West Indies, she was known for plaguing these two teams for a long time, along with ending the reigns of cricket in England and Australia. After this, in cricket, the West Indies prepared a bowling attack which forced the batsmen to use helmets and other safety gears.
