Even after the victory, Maharashtra's challenge is over
Vijay Hazare Cricket Tournament
With the help of Yash Nahar and Ankit Bawne, Maharashtra beat Puducherry by 137 runs in the last match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, even after this victory, Maharashtra had to settle for the third position and their dream of reaching the knockout stage remained unfulfilled.
Batting first, Nahar and Bawne got off to a strong start with a 192-run partnership for the second wicket. Nahar hit 119 off 120 balls with nine fours and five sixes. After that Bawne hit 110 off 115 balls with 10 fours and 1 six. Rahul Tripathi's unbeaten 59 in the middle order helped Maharashtra to 333 for four.
In overcoming this challenge, the Puducherry batsmen could not stand the bowling of medium pacer Rajwardhan Hungargekar. Sheldon Jackson (45) and Ashith Rajiv (30) saved them from 21 for four. Sagar Trivedi scored an unbeaten 79 on one side. But Puducherry's innings ended at 196 in 43.2 overs. From Maharashtra, Rajvardhan took four wickets while Satyajit Bachhav and Kedar Jadhav took two wickets each.
