Farewell to Chittagong, Tamim's Barisal in the qualifiers
The goal is too small. Just 136 runs needed to win. In pursuit of this run, Fortune Barisal ran rampant in Sher-e-Bangla. After raining four sixes in one over by Kyle Myers, Barisal made 66 runs on the scoreboard in the first five overs. Tamim didn't have to wait long to get victory in such a stormy batting. Fortune Barisal confirmed the qualifiers of the ongoing BPL by sending off Chittagong Challengers.
Barisal won the BPL eliminator match against Chittagong by seven wickets. Tamim Iqbal's team overcame the small target given by Chittagong with 31 balls in hand.
Chittagong's BPL mission ended with this loss. Barisal next mission qualifier. Rangpur Riders and Comilla Victorians will fight in the first qualifier on Monday. The winning team of that match will directly go to the final. Barisal will fight in the second qualifier against the defeated team. The second finalist will be determined in that match.
However, Barisal suffered a shock at the start of the run chase at the Mirpur Sherebangla Stadium today. Soumya defeated Sarkar in the first over. Tamim and Myers handled that blow very well. Barisal basically wrote the story of victory in this pair.
Both of them created a storm in Sher-e-Bangla. Myers scored 26 runs by hitting 6,4,6,4,6 in one over of the Chittagong skipper. Tamim was also aggressive. Belal Khan broke this accumulated pair in the tenth over. Myers was dismissed after reaching half-century. Myers departed with 50 for 26 runs.
But by then it was too late for Chittagong. Because Myers returned to the dressing room with an easy way to win. David Miller fell to four when he returned. He also returned to the dressing room with 17 runs. However, Tamim remained steadfast. Barisal's captain left the field after the match. He scored 52 runs off 43 balls on the way to win the team. Which was arranged with 9 fours.
Earlier in the match Fortune Barisal captain Tamim Iqbal chose to bowl after winning the toss. The proof that the captain's decision is correct is found at the beginning. In the second over of the innings, Tanjid Hasan dismissed Tamim who was in rhythm. Tanjid could not score more than two runs after being caught by Mushfiqur behind the wicket.
The next victim grabbed Mackey's hand. In the fifth over, the two Chittagong batsmen, Joss Brown and Imranuzzaman, picked up Mackey's two consecutive balls. Brown took the first catch. While taking that catch, Tamim threw it unbelievably.
Imranuzzaman who came on strike did the same with the next ball. Now the opportunity comes to Myers. He did not miss the opportunity. Seized the opportunity and dismissed Imranuzzaman (7).
It was McCoy who made Brown his victim on the first voyage. In the seventh over, Brown was caught by Miller and dismissed. Brown could not score more than 34 runs off 22 balls. Taijul Islam dismissed Saikat Ali by taking a catch on his own account. The next victim is Myers. In his last over, Chittagong skipper Shubhagat Myers broke the home stump.
