WI vs Ban: West Indies clean sweep of Bangladesh in Tests, avenged defeat in ODI series

West Indies piled on Bangladesh for 213 on the fourth day of the second Test match to win the match by 17 runs. With this, the Windies made a clean sweep 2–0 in the two-match Test series. Rahkim Carnaval was awarded the Player of the Series title.

Dhaka, IANS. On the back of off-spinner Rahkim Cornwall (4/105), the West Indies bowled Bangladesh for 213 on the fourth day of the second Test to win the match by 17 runs. With this, the Windies made a clean sweep 2–0 in the two-match Test series. Rahkim Carnaval, who performed brilliantly in this Test series, was awarded the Player of the Series title for his superb bowling while Krumah Bonner was adjudged Player of the Match in the third Test match.

After being all out for 117 runs in the second innings, the West Indies gave Bangladesh a target of 231 runs to win, in response to which Bangladesh were all out for 213 runs in the second innings. This is the first Test series win since 2017 on the overseas ground of the Windies. However, in this three-match ODI series played between the two countries before this Test series, Bangladesh made a clean sweep by defeating the West Indies 3–0.

Bangladesh's second innings opener Tamim Iqbal scored the most 50 runs. In addition to Conwall for the West Indies, Jomel Wariken took three wickets for 47 runs and captain Craig Brathwaite took three wickets for 25 runs. In the Bangladesh innings, apart from Iqbal, no other batsman could play a big innings. In the end, though Mehdi Hassan tried very hard to give the team victory in quick innings, but could not succeed. Bangladesh batsmen failed to form an even larger partnership. Earlier, West Indies beat Bangladesh by three wickets in the first Test match played in Chittagong and took a 1-0 lead in the series.
