Double century in the 100th Test

in Cric-World 🏏3 years ago

In Test cricket, just Nine batsmen have scored hundreds in their 100th Test match so far. Only Aussie captain Ricky Ponting has scored a century in two innings of his 100th Test. He was absolutely sensational in bringing about a dramatic win against South Africa in Sydney in 2006. By declaring their two innings, South Africa lost to Ponting's great batting. South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first and declared the innings at 451 for nine. In reply, Australia scored 359 runs based on Ricky Ponting's 120 runs.

The rain began to pour in as soon as South Africa went down to bat in the second innings.

As a result, only 20.3 overs were bowled on the fourth day of the match. South Africa, already trailing 1-0 in the series, had no choice but to win.
So at the beginning of the last day, RSA declared the innings by scoring 194 runs for 6 wickets. The South African bowlers got 76 overs in hand to get all out Australia, and Australia's winning target was 287 runs. After Langer was dismissed for 30, Ponting continued to bat for the 100th Test. Based on his unbeaten 143 off 159 balls, Australia won by 8 wickets in just 60.3 overs.
