Chennai's slow wicket-taker James Anderson has taken three places in the bowlers' rankings.

The ICC released the rankings on Wednesday after the last Test of the South Africa-Pakistan series, the first Test of the England-India series and the first Test of the Bangladesh-West Indies series.

In the first innings of the Chennai Test, Root played a great innings of 216 runs and advanced two steps. The English captain, who contributed to the team's victory and won the match, has a rating of 63 points, his highest since September 2016.

Kohli lost 10 rating points. He dropped to five with 752 rating points. And Labushen's rating point dropped to 4th place.

This is the first time since November 2016 that Root has overtaken Kohli. The fine-grained batsman is 36 points behind top-ranked Ken Williamson and 6 points behind Steven Smith.

Among the English batsmen, opener Dom Sibley is 11 steps ahead in the rankings. Ben Stokes is one step ahead. He is not now.

Aiden Markram has improved in the batsmen's rankings for South Africa. The opener, who scored a century in the second innings of the Rawalpindi Test, is 9 steps ahead and is at No. 14. Besides, Temba Bavuma has advanced 12 steps.

The top five in the ICC Test all-rounders rankings have not changed. As usual, Ben Stokes is at the top. At number two and three are Jason Holder and Rabindra Jadeja respectively. Shakib Al Hasan is the same as before.
