Hi everyone!

To start off on the right foot, Lobook is an episodic initiative that I decided to launch by creating a very simple logo. As usual, and I stress it, it will only deal with my experience, nothing more.

What does it consist of? I'll summarize it like this, with the key steps of the process.

I get a book, usually buying or borrowing it. I read it. I take some illustrative photos to add as attachments. I provide a brief introduction and my personal opinion. In short, basically a blog like many of those that provide reviews. My vision, however, is more focused on providing a general and very concise idea of ​​the book I have read, focusing little or nothing on anticipations of the plot and focusing more on my personal buying and reading experience.

And now let's get started!

The first episode takes inspiration from James Rollins book with the original title Deep Phatom (2001). The title of the Italian translation edited by Paolo Scopacasa is L'Ultima Eclissi (2012) and this is what I have read. In the photo below you can see a cover image from which I have removed some parts to try to avoid possible direct advertisements.

I purchased the book in paperback format, a format that allows access to the book for a sum suitable for almost any budget.

The story begins with a series of cataclysms spread all over the globe, to continue with research and a tangle of different perspectives, then summarized in the finale with the usual scenographic epilogue. You got it: I don't do spoilers.
How do I consider the book? As usual, written is quite well written, adventure style, which manages to satisfy those who like it. Personally, I was not thrilled, and I was unable to follow the plot. I dwelt more on the speeches than on the actual content, in which I often got lost. Personal taste, I have to specify this again. It must be said that it is mostly set around ships and submarines, and the often technical language does not help enter the part for those who do not have a good knowledge of these environments.

The personal rating system is still in its infancy. Since I rely primarily on my involvement and not on the quality of the texts, this is the fundamental parameter that guides my first vote. The second is a vote - once again personal - which takes into account how I received the quality of the text. I will call the first vote with the title INVOLVEMENT or COINVOLGIMENTO VOTE, the second as GENERAL or GENERALE VOTE. The grading scale for both will be a number between 1 (worst rating) and 5 (best rating), represented as stars (1 to 5).

Tanto per iniziare con il piede giusto, Lobook è un'iniziativa ad episodi che ho deciso di lanciare creando un semplicissimo logo. Come al solito, e lo sottolineo, tratterà unicamente una mia esperienza, niente di più.

In che cosa consiste? Ve lo riassumo così, con i passaggi chiave del processo.

Ottengo un libro, di solito acquistandolo o prendendolo in prestito. Lo leggo. Scatto alcune foto illustrative da aggiungere come allegati. Fornisco una breve introduzione e il mio personale parere. Insomma, in pratica un blog come tanti di quelli che forniscono recensioni. La mia visione è però più focalizzata sul fornire un'idea generale e molto concisa del libro che ho letto, soffermandomi poco o nulla su anticipazioni della trama e calcando invece di più sulla mia personale esperienza d'acquisto e di lettura.

E ora iniziamo!

Il primo episodio prende a spunto il libro di James Rollins dal titolo originale Deep Phatom (2001). Il titolo della traduzione italiana curata da Paolo Scopacasa è L'Ultima Eclissi (2012) ed è questa che io ho letto. Nella foto sotto puoi vedere un'immagine di copertina da cui ho rimosso alcune parti per cercare di evitare possibili pubblicità dirette.

Ho acquistato il libro in formato tascabile, un formato che consente un accesso al libro per una somma adatta a quasi tutte le tasche.

La storia esordisce con una serie di cataclismi diffusi in tutto il globo, per proseguire con una ricerca e un intrico di prospettive diverse, riassunte poi nel finale con il solito scenografico epilogo. Avete capito: non faccio spoiler.
Come ho trovato io il libro? Al solito, scritto è scritto abbastanza bene, stile avventura, che riesce a soddisfare quelli a cui piace. Personalmente non mi ha entusiasmato e non sono riuscito a seguire la trama. Mi sono soffermato più sui discorsi che sul contenuto vero e proprio in cui mi perdevo spesso. Gusto personale, questo lo devo precisare di nuovo. Va detto che è ambientato per la gran parte intorno a navi e sottomarini, e il linguaggio spesso tecnico non aiuta a entrare nella parte per chi non ha una buona conoscenza di questi ambienti.

Il sistema di valutazione personale è ancora alle prime armi. Poiché mi baso prioritariamente sul mio coinvolgimento e non sulla qualità dei testi, è questo il parametro fondamentale che guida il mio primo voto. Il secondo è un voto – ancora una volta personale – che tiene invece conto di come ho recepito la qualità del testo. Chiamerò il primo voto con l'appellativo VOTO COINVOLGIMENTO, il secondo come VOTO GENERALE. La scala di voto per entrambi sarà un numero compreso tra 1 (valutazione peggiore) e 5 (valutazione migliore), rappresentato sotto forma di stelle (da 1 a 5).
