Quest: The English are Coming! Defend Deadman’s Bay!
Ahoy maties!
I hope ye’ve all had time to restock at The Merchant (who was gracious enough ta offer generous discounts ta the blockade runners) and enjoy some praise and merriment at The Salty Tavern. I know I’ve been havin’ a great time celebratin’ a new year of Grand Piracy with me fellow swashbucklers. Sure sure, a few lot of drunken brawls and duels of honor have happened, but those just bring us closer together and strengthen arr bonds fer the new year.
Well I hate to cut the festivities short, but I gots werryin’ news fer ye scallaywags!
Spies tell me that The Queen ain’t too pleas’d with the utter annihilation of her patrol fleet that had blockaded The Bay earlier. The regal landlubber seems ta be mighty insulted that just a few corsairs managed to destroy her entire fleet.
Me sources tell me that a large fleet of English frigates be on its way toward Deadman’s Bay and I think we can assume they don’t be comin’ fer drinks! This ain’t a normal fleet, I can assure ye, this fleet be massive, and in the center of it be a man o’ war the likes of which we haven’t seen in quite some time.
The King of Spain seems to either have not yet receiv'd the new, or just didn’t care much about the blockade to begin with in the first place. Good fer us, but bad fer The Queen.
A new quest has begun in Pirate World! Here's how ta join:
Objective: Protect Deadman’s Bay from the invading Royal Navy!
EASY RULES
1. Leave a comment and describe your attack and tag “@piratedace” to automatically see to see how effective your attack is (based a random roll of a d10 (aka 1 through 10))
2. One attack run per pirate.
3. The initial PirateDice roll will determine the amount of ships that are attacking ahead of the man o’ war.
Once the vanguard of attack ships is defeat'd, the British man o’ war will hopefully turn tail and sail home. We can only hope. Batten down the hatches, me 'earties, we be in fer a rough fight!

Quest Log
Through the mystical piratedice, we've learned that there only be 5 frigates comin' fer the crackback. That said, they be mighty strong vessels indeed (difficulty 10)!
- @battleaxe's siren allies waved goodbye to the Scarlet Reign and are scouring the seas fer buried treasure and weapons. What they find remains to be determined.
- @underground's Maiden's Distress takes advantage of the recon to position herself for a future flanking maneuver.
- Cap'n Boneapart (@wwwiebe) and The Luckless ram the leadin' frigate, dealin' 1 damage and giving opportunity for the living skeleton's plans ta board the enemy vessel and begin ta swashbuckle (and scare) the limey sailors.
- @miryam's fleet blindsides the rear of the Queen's fleet under the dead o' night with hit-and-run tactics. That said, it is very dark at night, of course, so most of cannonballs are shot across the bow or stern of the rear ship. Luckily a few shots hit, doin' 4 damage to the confused vessel.
- @the.partisan.spy in a currently unnamed ship uses his patented "Iron Storm" technique, layin' waste to the front-left frigate of the Royal Naval fleet in a hail of cannonfire. 10 damage. The enemy ship is totally destroyed.
- @drlobes' Royal Fortune sails straight up the middle of the incoming navy and unleashes 26 cannonballs at the ships. It remains to be seen whether this destroys the ship that Cap'n Boneapart is boarding. His fire is split, doing 4 damage to the the leading ship and 5 to the front-right ship.
- @battleaxe's sirens return with cutlasses and a treasure chest. Then she turns Scarlet Reign to fire a volley of flaming and poison projectiles at the incoming fleet. The attack does a moderate 3 damage to the middle frigate's hull but kills many of the sailors on the deck.
Still still a few hours left for more pirates ta join in on the carnage! Round 2 will bring in a new post with opportunities for new attacks. Keep y'er eyepatches peeled for more pirate action.

@miryan The Royal Navy never saw ye comin'. Unfortunately fer y'er fleet, neither did they. While the aftmost ship suffers moderate damage (4), most cannonballs missed in the night. That said, in all the commotion and darkness, y'er fleet was not spotted.
I aim to capture that man-o-war!

Having advance warning, the mighty Maiden's Distress tries a flanking maneuver, swings wide to the north, to take a position for later harrying the Limey Fleet... no attack yet. @piratedice

@underground ye successfully take flanking position to the North. This will make the fleet more open to attack when ye so choose to do so.
Boneapart and The Luckless prepare a one-to-one strategy by aiming to ram the nearest enemy vessel! Arr! When close enough, the old slag of moving bones plans to scale the outside of the ship and engage one-on-one melee with the sailors within. @piratedice

@wwwiebe's sails catch the wind, increasin' speed and rammin' the front frigate, doing 1 damage up front. While the dice have not been kind, y'er raft be made of bones so it really doesn't matter what ye roll for ramming.
Now what do ye do when ye climb aboard?
Poor Bone'a'part doesn't have a weapon, so his first course of action will be to jump out and scare the nearest sailor, "Boo!", seize his weapon, and then run about creating general havok by stabbing and making scary faces.

A mysterious new corsair in a mysterious unnamed ship* (@the.partisan.spy) sails in, cannons ablaze in a glorious Iron Storm, completely obliteratin' the front-left frigate in but a single barrage. No survivors can be seen.
*(The Iron Storm, by the way, in This Pirate's opinion, would be a fantastic name fer a ship if ye choose to make a post about it in the PIrate World community winks wit' me one good eye)
In a daring maneuver I order the crew to position the ship right in the middle then sails up with full speed ahead. The 26 cannons on the Royal Fortune will spread hell right and left and with some luck we might be able to do a return run, let the hell begin.

How do ye want to split the 9 damage between the leading front and right ships? @drlobes?
Just recall that Cap'n Boneapart (@wwwiebe) is currently boarding the front one. Do ye go fer full chaos and destroy one ship or split the damage and avoid sending the terrifying living skeleton pirate flying?

Smart. Both frigates are crippled at half efficiency. Next round will be fortunate.
26 Cannons will spread Hell, I'm currently awaiting what my summoned Sirens bring back to the "Scarlet Reign", they get distracted by luring men to their deaths by their incessant singing of 3 specific songs

may manually roll bones , but feel free to hop on "The Scarlet Reign" for that. My ship has a ridiculous amount of cozy things and my essential oil diffusers are really pumping out a nice blend of Lavender and Win.
The Sirens have been busy scouring the depths for sunken treasure...............and weapons :)
Y'er siren allegiance has proven fruitful thus far. What did they find down in The Depths?
