PROMOTING MY COUNTRY ON STEEMIT by @stanleynnah
It's of great pleasure to me to take part in this wonderful contest of promoting my country organised by @abu78.

To begin with, individuals all over the world hold claim to be a citizen of one country or the other, and as such enjoys the various benefits and rights such country offers.
I am a citizen of Nigeria, born and raised in Nigeria and I am very proud to be a Nigerian. Nigeria as a country came into being in 1914, and later gained independence in 1960. As a country, Nigeria has played great role within and outside it's territory and is always referred to as the "giant of Africa" due to it's immense role in maintaining the unity and peace in the continent.
In addition, my country called Nigeria is made up of many ethnic groups, with the three major ethnic groups being the Igbos, the Hausas, and the Yorubas, all with various ways of life , traditions, and cultural activities which are well respected by everyone all over the country.
For instance, the Igbos celebrate what is referred to as the "new yam festivals" which is an event conducted to thank the gods for a successful agricultural season, and to celebrate with friends, relatives, and the society as a whole. This is in addition to other festivals such as the Eyo festivals, the Ojude Oba, and many other festivals celebrated across the country to bring the people together.
Furthermore, my country Nigeria has one of the best movies industries around the world, with massive production of movies yearly characterised with societal lessons and teachings. The Nigeria's movie industry has always portrayed various good societal norms ranging from respect for elders, respect for culture and traditions, among many others.
In conclusion, I will like to acknowledge @abu78 for organising this amazing contest for individuals to promote their dear countries, and it's also pertinent to note that just like every other country Nigeria has also had its own fair share of challenges in various sectors of life. But the ability to remain as one to fight and overcome such challenges is the beauty of my country called Nigeria.
I will like to invite @patience90, @akwashphil, and @charis20 to also take part in this amazing contest.
