Hello friends of Steem Skillshare that I am proud of. Warm greetings from me to all, especially to my teacher in Graphic Design who has guided me so far.
On this occasion I will continue my next homework in graphic design class. Previously I had completed my first task.
In studying graphic design we need to know about illustrations, because illustrations are indispensable in the world of graphic design.
Illustration
Before we dive deep into illustration, we need to first know what an illustration is and where it comes from. Linguistically, illustration is taken from Latin which means "spiritual or intellectual enlightenment". Meanwhile, in terms of the graphic world, Illustration is the result of visualization of an article using drawing, painting, photography, or other art techniques that emphasize the relationship between the subject and the writing in question.Source. In the world of graphic design, illustration can also be interpreted with an emphasis on images used to convey visual ideas, advertise products, teach or even encourage a brand.
From the above definition, illustration is closely related to graphic design which relies on images, graphics to convey messages to the public.
Types of illustrations
After knowing what an illustration is and where it came from, then in the next step we will discuss the types of illustrations.
Illustration has various types in various functions. As explained by @lhorgic in the article, there are 4 types of illustrations, namely; Editorial Illustration, Advertising Illustration, Fashion Illustration and Infographics. There are several other types in the illustration, including the fincluding
- Decorative Illustration Pictures
Decorative illustrations are images whose function is to decorate something with a simplified or exaggerated form with a certain style.
- Cartoon image
Cartoon images are images that have a funny shape or have certain characteristics. Often cartoons adorn children's magazines, comics and also illustrated stories.
- Naturalist Illustrations
Naturalist illustration images are illustration images that have the same shape and color as the real form that exists in nature without any reduction or addition.
- Decorative illustrations
Decorative illustrations are illustrations that serve to decorate. In this case the image depends on the needs and desires of the illustrator, whether to subtract or to exaggerate.
The difference between graphic design and illustration
From the understanding of the explanation that has been conveyed by our teacher, I can conclude that the difference between illustration and graphic design lies in the creator, namely the graphic design maker takes ready-made materials and combines them so that they look attractive and in accordance with the wishes while the illustrator designs it from start to finish, in meaning everything is built from scratch.
The importance of an illustration
It is very important for us as graphic designers to understand illustration, because by understanding it we know how to create elegant designs, in sync with conditions and attracting the public. Illustrations are also very important for us bloggers, because illustrations as a connector for the content of writing so that their existence is important to note.
