This is my first time of joining this poetry contest by @abu78, and i decided to drop my piece.

WAR

A drop is all that's needed.

Bricks lay all around.

Motionless, hunched and expectant she has waited.

A broken wheel rolled past with nobody abound.

Day after day this is the definition of life.

Darks days and equally bright nights.

Tonight it is bright, they would be here.

Peeping through a crevice is all that she can dare.

Another flare of light, and it began.

Not good she thought, the bad men are here.

Father had gone for water so they could stay alive.

He never came back

Mother couldn't watch as she starved.

She went but never came back.

On and on the men came, rata rata rata gunshots rendering the air.

Armored tanks, rolling and bringing despair.

Bullet shells falling, explosives brightening the night sky.

Wailing and pain all around, who could tell the difference.

This was not her own world which she grew.

The starry nights, where there was only love.

Sun filled days at the park where there were only smiles.

Now the days were dark with clouds of smoke as tears fell.

The nights were bright with bangs of explosions, a living hell.

This was war brought by the greed of men.

Only tomorrow, she would've been ten.

There was only one choice to take.

Brave heart and courageous mother had once called her.

Grandfather had named her LITTLE SARAH.

But now they were all gone.

On and on she crawled through the dirt and mud.

"You there, step outside" a voice called.

Taking flight she ran up a building as they chased after her.

Bodies littered the stairs and she fell as she tripped over a dead child.

There was only pain and no tears as she screamed in horror.

Standing , she continued up one step at a time.

The voices were behind taunting with promises of terror.

She had to get to the edge at the top.

And hope she was brave to make the drop.

"Motheeeeeer, Fatheeeeer " out she called

At the edge she turned to see the faces of those who brought her much pain.

Leaning out , she thought NEVER AGAIN.

Smiling at their faces SARAH jumped.

To end this, One drop was all that was needed.

I hope you had a good read, this is my entry for this contest and I am inviting @cyberking25, @swagon and @osomosemuaz to join this contest.

It is very important to use the proper photos on the platform. Copyrighted pictures are prohibited on Steemit. No worries, everyone makes mistakes. We recommend you to read THIS tutorial and edit your publication after that.

I didn't understand what was meant, the image I used was properly sourced. But I had removed the image

Thank you :) yes, sourcing the photos is one thing and you did it correctly but photos in internet are with different licences:

  • creative commons and free-license photos can be used anywhere you want, because the author agrees to distribute them to everyone
  • copyrighted photos require paying the author and asking for their permission every time we want to use the picture. In some countries using it without permission is considered as a crime equal to stealing and on Steemit it's not allowed as well.

Photo is a product of photographer's work as well as bread is the product of baker or clothes of the designer. It's well described in the link I attached to my first comment :) you will find there also the list of the websites where you can find creative commons pictures.

Have a great day and once again - thanks for the edition!

Thanks for your entry. Try to learn more about the use of markdowns to make your presentation look nice.
