Like a wise individual once said,"let food be medicine and medicine be food"..

Food naturally is known to be edible substance we take in or consume to stay healthy and survive in the world.
Virtually every living thing on mother Earth can't live or survive without food.

You can classify food among the 3 most essential substance that human needs to survive on Earth and they are air, water and food.

Enough being said about food and it importance.Let us look at food from another angle.

There are millions of varieties of food in the world and even if you decide to eat 3 different kind of food everyday, you still won't accomplish the mission of eating all the varieties of food in the world till your last day.

So,in the light of this wonderful contest anchor by @olabillions on @skillshare community,I will be taking you guys on a journey to West Africa, Nigeria precisely, where I will be showing you guys one of my favourite traditional delicacy.

Stay calm and enjoy the wondrous ride to Nigeria🤗

YOU just arrived Nigeria ladies and gentlemen.
Welcome to Nigeria, the land of great men and women.
You should spot the Nigeria flag as soon as you arrive at the airport 😁and start perceiving the intriguing and mesmerizing aroma of the Nigerian jollof😋hmmm, yummy😂

Just kidding let's get started.

Nigeria has the largest population in Africa and is rich and bless with variety of local foods and this is no surprise because the ethnic groups in the country is more than 200 and each group has about hundred of traditional dishes that are mouth watering, leaving you in a very tight spot to pick a favorite traditional dish😔.

Now let's do justice to contest questions.

What is your favorite traditional dish.

As it stands now,I can't say about later in future,my favorite traditional dish is Amala and èwédu,the Amala is made out of yam flour or cassava flour but I kinda prefer the one made out of yam flour, while the èwèdu is a kind of vegetable known as jute mellow in English.

The Amala made out of yam flour which happens to be my favorite is always black in colour while the one made out of cassava is always white..
Many people prefer the white but I will always choose the black anytime anyday.

Amala is the most loved and most popular traditional dish of the Yoruba people in Nigeria, they own it and love to eat it alot.
You can always find these local dish in every restaurant in Yoruba land and even outside Yoruba land in Nigeria.
It also rank among the top best local delicacy in Nigeria today.

Why I Love it

There is this feeling that comes with eating Amala and èwèdu,it hits differently.
The aroma of the soup accompany with the condiments and proteins present in the soup such as goat meat, beef,shàki, roundabout,Pomo(sorry guyz,I don't know the English name for those part of meat I mentioned, those are the local names we call it here 😁) and the likes is enough to make you loss you mind even before you start digging in😂

Amala goes well with all kind of draw soup(like slippery kind of soup) and the texture is always soft, you can end up eating 20wraps without even knowing. It is just that soft and succulent.

I also came to love it because this local dish happen to be one dish that you will always find in Nigerian parties and occasions, you must always find it there.
I still don't know which one dominates Nigeria party between the Nigerian jollof and amala, they are interwoven, more like brother and sister😂.

Words can't just do justice to why I like it,maybe because it is cheap and easy to prepare or because i grew up knowing how to eat it and eventually liked it.

Procedures To Make it.

To prepare Amala and èwèdu is relatively easy and simply.
I will list out some steps and procedures to follow in preparing this wonderful and mouth watering local delicacy.

Ingredients

•cassava or yam flour
•èwèdu
•Your pepper stew.(just make a stew out of pepper and tomatoes)
•Meat,fish or anything available.

Procedures
•Boil some quantity of water in a pot and then wait for it to boil.

•Once the water is ready, pour the cassava or yam flour gradually into the pot of boiled water and start stiring or turning slowly with wooden spetula till it starts forming and molding into solid.

•Once it start molding, you might want to turn or stir it more aggressively for it not to develop patches or situation where some side of the Amala will still have dry flour that is yet to be saturated with water.

•After you are done turning it,you can then serve it and proceed to make the èwèdu.

•Pluck the èwèdu leaves from it sticks and then wash it and put it in a pot of boiling water.

•add potash to the boiling water as it helps soften and also allow the èwèdu to draw or become kind of slippery.

•add your seasons and salt to the èwèdu on the fire and wait for about 5mins for it to be ready.

•Serve the Amala and èwèdu plus your pepper stew with meat or fish and enjoy your meal.

What nutrients does it gives and how much does it cost in steem to prepare.

Of course, the major reason why we eat food is to derive nutrients for survival and to also stay healthy and Amala/èwèdu is no exception when it comes to providing quality nutrients for the body.

Amala is classified as carbohydrate which is a good source of vitamin B6.
The vitamin B6 is needed by the body to break down a particular substance known as homocysteine which can damage walls of the blood vessels and also helps to prevent stroke.

While on the other hand,èwèdu (junt mellow) is rich in beta-carotone which helps improve and support eye-sight.

It doesn't cost much to prepare this traditional dish because the ingredients to prepare both the èwèdu and Amala is very cheap down here in Nigeria.
Using the current price of steem as yardstick, preparing this local dish shouldn't cost more than 15steems.

The only thing that might want to take more of the money and consequently Increasing the budget is the meat and other source of protein you decide to add,but even so,the price of preparing this dish to the highest possible standard and quality wouldn't be more than 20steem.

I hope you find this write-up Interesting,am glad you did.
I would also love to invite
