GRAPHIC DESIGN CLASS FINAL EXAM by @dibie

INTRODUCTION
Hello everyone 🤗
I hope we are all doing well today.
I'm glad we all are doing great.
I go by the name @dibie,and I am proudly one of the graphic design students on steem skillshare..

The first semester of the graphic design class has finally come to an end and the student abilities needs to and must be tested,so in that case,I will be attempting some questions for the final exam set by our amiable headmaster, in person of @atim1234.
I also would like to make special appreciation to my design teachers and everyone that has shown support for this initiative.
please sit back as I take you on a wondrous ride towards exploring most of what we learnt in the first semester of graphic design class.

WHAT IS THE DEFINITION & CATEGORY OF GRAPHIC DESIGN

Graphic design is simply defined as an art/craft of creating visual contents or presentation with the combination of image,words and idea which is use in communicating or passing across information to an audience.
Graphic design is literally around us and everywhere we go ranging from posters to fliers to billboard even down to biscuits and beverages packages and chocolate packet etc,this are all visual communication known as graphic design.

Graphic design has a way of making a normal and common thing look more enticing and attractive,it is also a way of birthing one's imaginary idea into creating a visual representation.

Categories

There are different categories of graphic design,it depends on how versatile you are in the field.
Alot of persons pigeonhole graphic design into a very narrow scope because of the little idea they have about this craft,so I would be listing a few of the categories below:
-Advertising
-Package Designing
-Publishing
-Website Design
-Interface design[social media app and other websites]
-Branding and Visual identity
-Logo Making & Digital design
-Environment Design

HISTORY OF GRAPHIC DESIGN BRIEFLY

Graphic design just like painting happens to be one of the acient craft and art that still exist today and is still very much appreciated and celebrated.

Graphic design is said to began proper after the invention of printing press in 1440,but we still can't erase the fact that this visual communication art hs been in existence as far back as the Stone age and caveman times.

Historian trace the origin of graphic design from about 38,000BCE,.
It happens to be one of the oldest way people used in communicating from one generation to another.

ROLE OF GRAPHIC DESIGN IN VISUAL COMMUNICATION

•It serves as an advertising strategy
•It create a powerful impression
•It breeds a sense of professionalism
•it enhance the look and package design of a product.
•pique the interest of audience
•create a kind of connection between brand and customer.

MENTION AND EXPLAIN THE COMPONENT OF GRAPHIC DESIGN

The components of graphic design are as follow
•COLOR:Colour which is the vivid appearance from juxtaposition of many bright thing is an important component and a very powerful tool when designing graphics.
The effects colour produce in Graphic designing cannot be undermined because it plays a major role in attracting the attention of people who come in contact with it, piqued the interest of audience and also make a design beautiful and appealing to the eyes.

•TYPOGRAPHY:Typography is simply the usage of correct and actual spelling,right aesthetics,spacing,fonts and proper alignment of words when designing a visual art.
You can as well say that it is the writing mechanism that is exhibited during graphic designing process to make information written on a design(flier, billboard,poster,banner)visible, interesting to read, appealing to the eyes and beautiful.

•IMAGE:image are use in illustration and demostration purpose when designing a visual art,it is also an important component as it makes one design beautiful.

•Fonts, spacing and lining are also important component of graphic design as they tend to make a design more appealing and attracting

MENTION AND EXPLAIN THE PRINCIPLE OF GRAPHIC DESIGN

The Important principles of graphic design are as follow:
-EMPHASIS:As a graphic designer,this is one Important principles to apply when designing a visual art,you should know what the audience need to know or see the most and then bank on it more,is it the "brand name" or the "party venue" or the "product" etc that is the most important thing that should be on the design.
You have to understand this principle to a considerable extent to avoid flaws in your design.

-ALIGNMENT: Alignment is the orderly arrangement of content on a visual design such as typography,image,shape, text etc...it is a very important principle of graphic design.

-CONTRAST:Contrast is more like a colour use for the fonts or typeface design that is different from the main background colour design.It has a way of catching the attention of audience differently.
It is the using of a distinguish colour for fonts and typeface,a colour that is different from the background colour

-COLOR COMBINATION:Colour combination is the combining or mixing together of different colours to form a unique outcome.

-REPETITION: Repetition is the using of 2 or 3 colour and fonts in a design.it makes a design more attractive and less noisy .

-PROPORTION:This is the design size and weight of element used in making a visual design,it varies because the size when designing a banner is quite different from designing a flier or billboard.

DESCRIBE GRAPHIC DESIGN APPLICATION AND SOFTWARE

Graphic design application and software are designing tools that can be or is utilised by graphic designers during he process of creating a visual representation.
In this free design class on skillshare,the design application and software we make use of are Pixel Lab and coreldraw respectively.
They exhibits alot of features to enhance ones prowess in the designing field such as fonts,colour,text effects,stickers shapes,image and the likes,most of which are readily available on the designing tool and can be operated for free.

CREATE A BANNER

From my design above,it is clear that I only made use of two colour combination,one serves as the dominant and the other was to compliment it,as we know that black and white shouldn't be considered as colour!

I also made use of two fonts in my design.

I made use of the components of graphic design such as colour,fonts, typography,image etc and principles such as color combination, alignment, repetition, proportion etc.

CREATE A SIMPLE LOGO

The combination logo above is my dream brand logo,I would prefer my logo this way when I finally set up my own establishment.
The logo dispicts my nicknames coined from my surname noel from Emmanoel and Dibs from Dibie which make it nD.
Aside the nD logo I also had the full meaning of nD engraved on it which is noel Dibs this made it more sophisticated and a way of having my brand name on people lips and mind when they come across it once.

CONCLUSION

This Graphic Design class here in steem skillshare has really benefited me alot,I wouldn't fail to acknowledge the initiator of this amazing idea in person of @atim1234 and also the wonderful teachers that helped in actualizing this unprecedented development on steemit.
My sincere gratitude also goes to the head of this community for creating a condusive learning atmosphere for the acquisition of this amazing skill.
I'm glad I took part in this design class and also looking forward to continue my learning quest next semester 🤗
