My view of sound design skill
Hello all! Today I want to tell you about sound design. It is used in the music industry and many other spheres.
Specialists not only sound films and computer games, but also create sounds for mobile applications, robots, cars, household items.
It is very creative job but it is not necessary to have a musical education for this.
Sound directing is a delicate job of managing the emotions of the viewer through the right sound images.
Every time you hear a sounds on the screen, a spaceship flying, or a person making his way through the jungle, this is the work of professionals artificially creating sounds for the image.
Sound design can be divided into several modern directions. One is interactive sound design. It includes the creation of sounds for computer games, mobile applications, installations of modern art.
A sound designer must understand how a particular sound will be perceived, so studying the psychology of perception, communication, and drama is a necessary part of training.
You have several communication apps in your mobile phone. Every time a message arrives, you understand which application to open. Sound simplifies communication with the device.
Sound design in music is the most understandable direction for musicians, as it is increasingly being used to create a new sound in electronic music. Recently, music has been moving from a classical melodic sound to a timbral one.
Now the characteristic sound of a pop artist is not only the timbre of the voice, but also its processing. A modern composer should understand both synthesis and sound engineering.
The sound designer takes sounds from everyday life and rethinks them. Many sound designers work with foreign projects even more often than with Russian ones.
After all, the language is no longer a barrier, there are Google and Yandex translators for this. A sound designer can work in the music industry, create sounds for computer games, exhibitions, videos for YouTube.
Generative music is actively developing — this is music that is generated based on algorithms. We will soon hear completely new interesting timbres created by the computer.
Sound makes it possible to relieve tension from vision: if you are a pilot of an airplane or a spaceship, you need to take into account hundreds of parameters. And sound is able to tell you information faster without switching the focus of attention.
So you can see that sound design is used in many branches.
