Being one of the first African countries to gain independence on 6th March, 1957 and moving on to becoming a republic on 1st July, 1960, Ghana is my country.

Located in the heart of West Africa, Ghana is an oil rich land filled with various natural resources ranging from fertile lands to rain forests to cocoa to bauxite to Gold, just to mention a few.

Ghana has a population of about 30 million as at 2020 last year, majority of which are the youth and the working class.

Ghana is the largest exporter of Gold in West Africa and is also the largest producer of cocoa.

Made up of three colors; Red,Gold and Green with a black star in the middle.

The red color stands for our Leaders who fought for our independence, Gold stands for our mineral resources.

The Green stands for our fertile green vegetation.

The black star symbolizes the unity for African freedom

The National Anthem

Composed by Philip Gbeho after Ghana gained independence, it is recited as follows;

God bless our homeland Ghana

And make our nation great and strong,

Bold to defend for ever,

The cause of Freedom and of Right.

Fill our hearts with true humility

Make us cherish fearless honesty,

And help us to resist oppressor's rule ×2

With all our will and might for evermore.×2

The National Pledge

I promise on my honour,

To be faithful and loyal to Ghana my motherland,

I pledge myself in all things,

To uphold and defend the good name of Ghana,

So help me God.

Why I like my country

Firstly, my country is a democratic state. With this there is a sense of calm among citizens as their voices are heard.

There is a chance for change of government every 4 years, hence any government that comes into power try their best to serve the people's interest or risk loosing in the next election.

This makes Ghana somehow stable without any major clashes between the people and government.

Also, Ghana possess fertile lands of green vegetation. This serve as the hub for our food production and also serves as employment for majority of the working population who are farmers.

These lands also produce our Cocoa, Coffee, Palm nut and Groundnut. These are our major exports.

Furthermore, Ghana has a long list of tourist site attractions, ranging from waterfalls to wildlife.

Some of these tourist sites include:

  • Kintampo water falls

  • Wli Waterfalls

  • Mole national park

  • Elmina castle

  • Cape coast castle

  • Paga crocodile pond

These sites are just a few of the vast tourist attractions.

Lastly, Ghana is very peaceful country recognized wordwide. Since the overthrowing of leaders in the mid 1960's that threatened the peace and stability, there has not been any of such incidents afterwards.

God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong
