Introduce your Pet | Best Of India Contest | Meet my furry friend from Barsey, Sikkim

This post is about my furry friend - Bholu !! We met him at Barsey, Sikkim.

Barsey is at Sikkim and famous for it's Rhododendron flowers. It is one of the rare sanctuary in India where you can walk through the Rhododendron jungle.
To reach Barsey, you first need to reach Siliguri. The nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP) and nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB). From Siliguri, hire a car to Hiley (Sikkim) via Jorthang. From Hiley, it is 4km easy trek to Barsey through Rhododendron forest. Barsey offers nice view of Mount Kanchenjungha.

As we had a spare day in Barsey, after breakfast we decided to explore the nearby areas. Trekkers hut manager Mr. Sherpa asked us not to move very far. However, we did the mistake of going far. When we realised, it is 3pm, we are hungry and we lost our way back.

Inside the Rhododendron sanctuary, the only human inhabitant are in Barsey. The cellular network were rare and week. We just have our water bottles with us, most of these are empty by then. Even we don't have much woollens as when we started our walk there was sun shining and we are supposed to return by lunch. We even don't have torch with us. Mobile phones are running low battery.

Suddenly, we heard "bhow bhow!". It is Bholu, the dog from Trekkers hut. He seems like an angel. He came to us, barked, and started returning. We immediately following him. He was walking a little, stopping, checking if we were following him and again walking. We reached Trekkers hut within 40 minutes.

We had our lunch first, then spent the evening with Bholu in trekkers hut premises. We had photosession with Bholu, we played with him. He was so happy. We buy fried chicken from trekkers hut and offered a treat to Bholu.

We came back from Barsey the next day.

People usually visit Barsey for trekking, for nice view of Mt. Kanchenjungha, for rhododendron flowers, for a chance of spotting red panda in forest .. but I will visit Barsey again to meet my furry friend - Bholu!
