in Best of India3 years ago

The Taliban's occupation of Afghanistan has raised concerns around the world. It is doubtful whether the human rights of Afghanistan citizens will be protected under the fanatical Taliban regime. The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) feels that children's education and culture are at risk. Given what has been achieved over the past few decades, the international community is focused on what the future holds for Afghanistan .

There are many cultural site that creates the history and identity of Afghanistan. The old city complex in Herat includes the Bamiyan Valley and the National museum of Kabul. Many schemes need to be implemented to preserve and revive this ancient heritage of the country.

Referring to the Taliban regime, UNESCO has said that Afghanistan is at a new turning point in its history, adding that maintaining the progress it has made over the past few decades in compliance with human rights ,education and international standards will be important for the country and the region as a whole. UNESCO , along with Afghanistan and it's international partners, has been transforming the country since 2002. Afghanistan's literacy rate has risen from 34% in 2002 to 43% in 2020. A number of nation wide programs have been implemented to create awareness among the citizens for the preservation of cultural heritage, increase scientific capacity and protect journalists. UNESCO has warned that any damage to Afghanistan's cultural heritage during the Taliban's rules could adversely affect peace and relief efforts there. The face of the country has changed in the last 20 years , the society here has made great progress . But UNESCO says a developed Afghanistan will take a new turn if it is protected.

Unless women are on pedestal in Afghanistan, there wont be change. The amount of extreme views and the amount of bloodshed is getting out of hands. I think only thing that can change the middle east are women. Women need to stand up for their rights and need to lead in the middle east.
