Black Hole Quantum Teleporter

This quantum teleporter should be unique. Instead of destroying information in a black hole it should transfer information between two quantum entangled black holes.

Black Hole That Do Not Destroy

Let us do a bit of quantum dreaming. Traditional theories say that nothing escapes the crushing pull of a black hole's gravity. Not light, not even information. Yet a few years ago a theoretical study appeared that claimed that quantum information could be transferred between two quantum entangled black holes even once it got past the event horizon.

But this topic is somewhat sensitive to both general relativity and quantum mechanics. This is because it is one of the areas where the two theories have a bit of friction between them. And at the same time, the abstract physics of black holes meet the fully real research and development of quantum computers at this point as well.

Faster Quantum Teleportation

Christopher Monroe and Brian Swingle from the University of Maryland do of course know that creating two black holes in a laboratory or even inside of a computer is far away from reality. Our science and technology will have to progress a lot further before we even think about it. But they believe they will be capable of building a quantum circuit that will behave just as quantum entangled black holes would. Exactly the same. Based on their models the researchers assume that a system that will be more than just an attempt to mimic the behavior of black holes will be created. In its behavior, it will be indistinguishable from real black holes.

Whether this is possible and whether it will work is obviously a question with a big question mark. But if it will work that it should be possible to input a piece of quantum information into one of the “black holes” of such a quantum teleporter where the information will vanish only to appear in the second “black hole” transported and decoded. This process is different from current quantum teleportation technologies as in those the transferred information appears in codes and needs to be decoded. And that is a big part of why current quantum teleportation technologies are somewhat slow and less precise.

Entangled black holes are something that surely makes a lot of you think of science-fiction. But this technology will not allow us to travel the stars or even teleport from one place in the world to another. Yet it is still a technology that borders science-fiction as if it will work it should allow us to speed up quantum computers.

Interesting piece. Here's something to ponder: If information cannot escape a black hole, then what would be the use of this technology beyond demonstrating that it can be done?

As far as I understood the science in this particular case, the information would actually never enter a black hole in practice, they would just create a circuit that behaves like black holes in the sense that it transfers the information effectively quantum teleporting it.

So in theory we could tweak the artificial black hole to behave differently. You may also recall that that Hawking made a bet with another researcher regarding whether or not information can escape from a black. He lost the bet because apparenly information can escape, although it comes out mangled: https://physicsworld.com/a/hawking-loses-black-hole-bet/

I think you are still stuck on the black hole thing. There will be no black holes. Thus, the information will be able to "escape" without any issue.

Yes, I understand that part. I guess the part that I don't get is this:

"Based on their models the researchers assume that a system that will be more than just an attempt to mimic the behavior of black holes will be created. In its behavior, it will be indistinguishable from real black holes."

If it's indistingishible, then it is in essence a black hole, with all that entails, including the fact that no information can escape. The finding by Hawking and Thorne could be a way to get around this limit. I'm sure the researchers have worked out some solution.
