I read a book in one day WITHOUT Speed Reading (Experiment)

in DTube4 years ago

In my previous video I talked about a way to find out how much time I waste on social media and how many books I could read instead. If you want to know how much time you waste and how many books you could read, watch the video here:

When I did this test, the number of books was so high that I decided to read more. So for this video I wanted to conduct an experiment: Can I read an entire Non-Fiction Book in one day WITHOUT Speed Reading? To see if I failed or if I succeeded, watch the video above!

There are many videos about speed reading, in my opinion the best one is by Tim Ferris:

However, I couldn’t actually find a video that was similar to what I wanted to try for this video:

Step 1: Choose a book that you think you can read in a day, you can verify this by doing step 2.

Step 2: Look at the audio book file (for example on audible) and see how long the file is. This will show you roughly how long it will take you to read the book.

Step 3: Plan reading the book and adjust time if applicable. You may have a faster reading speed than the person who read the audio book, so it may take you less time to read the book.

Step 4: Read the book. You may want to try my little technique for reading the book that I mention in the video to make sure you stay focused for a longer time period.

The book I chose to read for this example is called ‘Limitless’ by Jim Qwik, I am not affiliated with this book or author and I chose this book because I wanted to read it anyway, so I thought I might as well include it in my experiment. It was a great book to read with lots of useful information. To see if I managed to read the entire book in one day, watch the video!

There are many different ways to read an ebook and listen to the audio book, both can also be done at the same time. I have found six methods, there might be more (comment them below if you have one or more) I talk about the pros and cons of each of the below points in the video.

Method 1: Amazon Kindle + Audible, they call it ‘Immersion Reading’:

Method 2: Epub file (or PDF etc) with Natural Reader: https://www.naturalreaders.com/index....
Method 3: Google Books and the ‘Read Aloud’ Feature
Method 4: Siri (Apple devices only)
Method 5: Text-To-Speech on Android devices
Method 6: Browser Add-ons
