ARMED civilians enforce coronavirus measures in Guatemala
Civilians in Guatemala have taken coronavirus containment measures (and guns) into their own hands.
Armed members of the public are patrolling the streets of San Vicente Pacaya in southern Guatemala, enforcing curfews and sanitation to try and get the spread of the virus under control.
Along the highway the medical vigilantes are pulling people over for temperature checks, carrying pistols and shotguns as well as thermometers.
The group have called themselves Civil Society Pacaya. They patrol the city to remind people to obey Covid-19 restrictions, like wearing a face mask.
Guatemala has registered 29,355 cases of Covid-19, and 1,219 people have died.
