First day on Sanloem Island, our accommodation and a little reconnaissance

The first day passed quickly. We reached the island at noon, and spent most of the time in the shade, in the nearest restaurant. Our resort was located almost 2 km from the pier to which we arrived.

Pierwszy dzień minął nam błyskawicznie. Dopłynęliśmy na wyspę w samo południe, i większość czasu spędziliśmy w cieniu, w najbliższej knajpce. Nasz resort położony był bowiem prawie 2 km od molo do którego przypłynęliśmy.

The owner of the resort called "Dolphin" was an Italian. A place off the beaten track, but that's an advantage, and a very good price for a room with a bathroom, because we paid 100 USD for 6 nights. The problem on the island is money. If you don't bring the right amount of cash with you, you may have problems with payments. There is no card payment option in most establishments, and there are no ATMs on the island.

Właścicielem resortu o nazwie ,,Dolphin,, był Włoch. Miejsce na uboczu, ale to akurat zaleta, oraz bardzo dobra cena za pokój z łazienką, bo za 6 nocy zapłaciliśmy 100USD. Problemem na wyspie są pieniądze. Jeśli nie weźmiesz ze sobą odpowiedniej ilości gotówki, to możesz mieć problem z płatnościami. W większości lokali nie ma opcji płatności kartą, a bankomatów na wyspie nie ma.

We were lucky that our host had a terminal and for a fee of 5% of the value of the payout, you could withdraw cash from him - better than the $40 return trip to land. But this variant also did not always work, because it depended on the Internet connection, which was weak and capricious there. So if you plan to stay in Sanloem, you definitely need to have a lot of cash.

Mieliśmy to szczęście, że nasz host posiadał terminal i za opłatą w wysokości 5% wartości wypłaty można było u niego wypłacić gotówkę - lepsze to niż powrót na ląd za 40 USD w dwie strony. Ale ten wariant też nie zawsze działał, bo uzależniony był od łącza internetowego, które tam było słabe i kapryśne. Tak że jeśli ktoś planuje pobyt na Sanloem, to zdecydowanie trzeba zaopatrzyć się w sporą ilość gotówki.

When we got to our apartment, located on the first floor with a nice view, we decided to take a short rest and take a nap. We went outside when the sun was low and then a great expanse of sand was revealed - there was a huge low tide. It surprised us completely, because when we were walking in the opposite direction, the water came up to the palm trees growing on the shore. Thanks to this, we could at least get an idea of what the swimming comfort zone looks like.

Gdy dotarliśmy do naszego lokum, mieszczącym się na piętrze z fajnym widokiem, postanowiliśmy zrobić sobie krótki odpoczynek i ucięliśmy sobie drzemkę. Wyszliśmy na zewnątrz, gdy słońce było już nisko i wtedy odsłoniła się wielka połać piachu - był ogromny odpływ. Zaskoczyło to nas zupełnie, bo gdy szliśmy w odwrotną stronę woda podchodziła aż pod palmy rosnące na brzegu. Dzięki temu mogliśmy się przynajmniej zorientować jak wygląda strefa komfortowego pływania.
