Jorogumo - a sand sculpture time lapse.
Parksville, 2019. Yes, sometimes sand sculpture collapse and this is one of those time. We were very thorough with our compaction, but this sand is very particular. Maybe it was the shape of the pound up, maybe it was the draining... We've seen sculptures much taller and risky stand and others much safer fall. Big shout out to my boy Dan Belcher, often out of the frame, who did an amazing job, especially on the backside.
The sculpture titled "Jorogumo" is a depiction of a Japanese demon, or "yokai", that has the form of half-women, half-spider who seduce young man to their doom.
