Who Was Ertuğrul Gazi?
Ertugrul Ghazi, also known as Ertughal, is the founder of the Ottoman Caliphate. He was born in 1191 AD and died in 1280 AD. In some places the year of his death is written as 1281 AD.
He had three sons named Ganduz, Sauchi and Usman. His third son, Uthman, founded the Caliphate in 1291, ten years after his death, which became known as the Ottoman Caliphate, but was founded by Ghazi Ertugrul himself.
