how to recycle plastic bottles into UPB Tree Nursery Pots. UPB stands for Upcycled Plastic
Green Steem family
Today, we taught our partner, Ets. Building Local Materials, how to recycle plastic bottles into UPB Tree Nursery Pots. UPB stands for Upcycled Plastic Bottle, and these pots are also known as UPB Planters. By removing plastic bottles from the environment and upcycling them into planters, we are reducing the use of single-use polythene bags for nursing trees. This contributes to lowering the number of plastic bottles burned or littered in our streams, waterways, and communities.
UPB Tree Nursery Pots are reusable, economical, easy to transport, easy to fill with dirt, and simple to manage in the nursery. In less than two hours, our team, including @Nsangou Rudolf, @TanjongMirian, Manager, and @Zunwie Joel R., learned how to make the nursery pots from me, and produced 170 pots from 170 plastic bottles. The top parts of these bottles, which include the bottle necks, were then packed and shredded to produce pellets.
We shred the upper parts of the plastic bottles because they can't sit on the nursery surface without support. Hence, they are better utilized when shredded for further recycling.
By transforming plastic bottles into UPB Tree Nursery Pots, we are promoting arboriculture, creating employment and economic opportunities for young people, and contributing to environmental cleanup.
Are you thinking about nursing your own plants but don't have money for single-use plastic pots? UPB nursery pots are the answer!
Want to make some extra cash with just a pair of scissors, a soldering iron, a marker, and tape? Making UPB nursery pots can be your solution to extra income.
If you're unemployed, you can start making UPB Nursery Pots, and we will buy them. Learn more about these planters here:
