Steem Cameroon Contest - World Food Day (Nigeria)
Edited with PixelLab
Introduction |
---|
It is believed and proven that nature keeps humans, animals and plants alive. One of the elements of nature is Food. These element of nature is irreplaceable in our daily life. These foods are gotten from plants or animals (nature's produces). But in the recent times, food supply has drastically reduced due to the poor management or negligence of food production.
Since food supply is down, poverty rate has increased. People especially innocent children are suffering from malnutrition. A universal organization decides to mark 16th of October yearly to mark World Food day. This day is a universal day and it is observed in all countries.
How Do My Country Celebrate It |
---|
Since it is a Universal celebration, Nigeria my country do celebrate it too. This celebration is done in Nigeria in a spectacular way. Non-governmental organization celebrate this day more often. The mode of this celebration is usually in awareness and giveaway form.
The NGOs do visit orphanage homes or less privileged places. The form of these celebration is usually in form of a giveaway. The NGOs give the less privileged food materials to the kids or anybody involved. In term of community celebration, they turn out to enlighten the townsmen the need for food production.
It's Impacts Towards The Society |
---|
The importance of this celebration is felt within and outside the community. Here are some impacts that this day renders:
- Remembrance of Mother Nature gift: World food day helps individuals to know that Mother Nature has given human beings a great gift. Whether it is tapped or untapped, it is still there. This gift is named Food from Plants or animals. This benevolence is what we should be thankful of. Imagine a world without this gift, how will the human race survive?
- Back To Farm Initiative: Since the mother Nature has provided great gifts to mankind, the only way to harness this is to tap from it. I'll say that this great celebration creates an awareness that we shouldn't show apathy towards farm work. Africa should be the major exporter of food crops because it is blessed with dark and fertile soil.
What Issues Should Be Commemorated |
---|
Life in the university isn't an easy task. For students, it is usually hectic due to their activities. There are some times that they barely have a breathing space. This is due to their engagement in lectures, assignment, practicals, etc. The life of an undergraduate I'll say it's not an easy one. So, I will recommend October 18 to celebrate their efforts as the wind of change in the society.
