Short Understanding about Elections |

Election is defined as an act which citizens of a country or state perform periodically in order to choose their leader or representative. This act is mostly seen in a democratic state or country. This act can be done in different methods like the open ballot, secret ballot, etc. In the definition above, it is done periodically. So, in my Country, Nigeria, it is done every 4 years. Is it really important in our society? Let's find out in the course of this article.

In a land named Ozail, the people lived freely with each other. They lived under the rulership of a monarch named King Jelli. The people obeyed and honored him but he didn't live to his words. Rather, he was wicked and cruel to the people. The people had no other choice than to endure the cruelty and wickedness of King Jelli.
His wife, Queen Ashley had no say because the king alone is the Supreme leader. Years later, the King died and it's time to select a new King. Coincidentally, Jones who studied in a faraway city came back to Ozail. The tradition was that before a new King is installed, they must be a meeting among the people of the land to decide.
Jones was in attendance of the meeting. As the meeting went on about which King's son should be installed, Jones raised his hand. They gave him the opportunity to speak. Jones told the people that the King rulership is ok for their land but isn't a good pattern of government.
He explained that the power and authority is only vested on the King, so anything he does cannot be questioned. He suggested that there's a government where the leader are accountable to the people. Jones further told them that the government is raised from the people's choice. After that speech by Jones, everybody nodded and accepted the idea.
The spokeman, Joshua told the royal council about the new idea. The council who wants to make up for the past King's wickedness readily agreed. The election time came and Jones was nominated on the ground that he can bring in idea that can benefit the whole land.
