The Plastic Bottles Recycling and Arboriculture Project | ... recycle 500K plastic bottles to nurse 1000k Trees | DIY
The Greens have partnered with New Vision for an Ecofriendly Environment to implement thePlastic Bottle Recycling and One Million Trees Project that strives to upcycle 500,000 Plastic Bottles into One Million UPB Tree Nursery Pots to nurse and grow one million trees (fruit trees, agroforestry trees, medicinal trees, ornamental trees) which will be planted in the Bamenda Highlands of the North West Region of Cameroon in order to promote food and fruit security, alleviate poverty and youth unemployment, STOP Plastic Bottle Pollution and fight climate change.
The principal objectives of the project are;
- Remove 500, 000 Plastic Bottles from the environment and train young people to upcycle them into one million UPB Plant Nursery Pots; hence stop plastic pollution.
- Nurse one million and plant one million trees comprising of 500,000 fruit/medicinal trees, 200,000 indigenous forest tree species, 150,000 agroforestry tree species, 100,000 ornamental trees and 50,000 other eco-tree species; hence promote reforestation.
- Train and engage youths in arboriculture and the upcycling of plastic bottles into UPB Tree Nursery Pots and UPB Vertical Gardens.

To achieve our objectives, we will;
- Create a Tree Nursery at Mile 4 Nkwen Bamenda
- Create 10 Plastic Bottles collection points in the city of Bamenda
- Upcycle the Plastic Bottles into UPB Tree Nursery Pots at The Greens’ office where there is enough space and electricity to facilitate the upcycling process
- Recruit 50 young people who are passionate about environmental protection and train them to become Earth Rangers who will help other people while making profits and cleaning-up the environment.
- Exchange 50,000 Trees for 250,000 Plastic Bottles. This implies, for every 5 Plastic Bottles members of our community donate to us, we will give them one tree of their choice to go and plant.
- Plant 450,000 Trees in the different afromontane forests and cities of the North West Region of Cameroon
- Sell 500,000 Trees at very affordable prices to raise revenue to improve on the livelihood of the 50 Earth Rangers who are involved in the project. Meaning each Earth Ranger will be entitled to 10,000 Trees for their service to people and the planet.
The project needs as well as plan of action will be published this weekend because the project will officially be launched on Tuesday 13th July 2021.
