INTRODUCTION

Today is another edition where I will be talking on how bananas is cultivated and harvested in Cameroon.

It is the second largest in Cameroon with a land area of about 9.4million hectares and a total surface area of about 359,856 hectares with a bananas cultivation ofabout1.24millionsmetrics with a total population of about23.5 millions and a total employers of about 22000population.

These is a whale house where the banana are being harvested and accumulated for exposed out of the country.

How Bananas Is Cultivated

Bananas is the most widely available and consumed fruit in the world with so many mineral found in it such as phosphorus, calcium, potassium and magnesium.
Bananas also belong the family Musaeace with the name musa cavendish and musa paradisace

1). Climate

During bananas cultivation, it usually need a warm, temperature,and humid environment or a temperature of about 10 to 40% and a humidity of about 90%.

2). Soil

Since bananas are heavy weight crops, they need a rich fertile soil with PH of about 6to8

3). Propagation

With banana , they don't Produce seed but are planted through routing or sometime the Rhizomes are removed and use for planting

4). Planting

This are well organized plans spotted in row and column to enable enough sunshine into the farm land and also to avoid shrew plants that will not produce a better yield

5). Manuring

Since bananas is heavy weight and need a high quality of chemical reactions such as P2O5, K2O5 many other to grow 🪴 properly.

Some diseases that affect the growth of bananas

• wilt panama
It cause by the soil fungi Fusarium oxysporum.
Leaves became yellow , pseudo stem split and break.

• bunchy top
It is cause by a virus called aphid Pentalonia nigroneruosa. Which make the plant to became slanted, narrow with short petiole.

• insect pest
It is a root stock wavill and it's Effects is adults and growSymptoms of damage:- Grub bores into stem which is affected by fungi or bacteria.

• it helps to create employment to people living within that environment
• it also use to produce cornflake
• it is also use to prepare natural fruit juice for the body systems
