Hello to all my fellow steemians. Before I get started, I will like to thank the Steem Cameroon community for always organising the best day Contest where by each member can participate and reap the benefits. A big thanks ❤️❤️❤️.
Best days are often marked by interesting activities, tasks or things that make us smile or feel with great joy. But my best day of last week was marked with mixed feelings; feeling of joy and kind of sorrow at same time.
My best day of last week was the 13/07/2021. At 5am, I was already up. I brushed my mouth, took my bath, dressed. I had to wait a little so my boss will be done dressing then we leave. At about 6:30, I went out and started wiping the dew from my boss' wife car. When he came out, he said they won't be using mum's car but his. So I wipe the dew off his car. By about 6:40am, we had left. I was heading to the mortuary at the Bamenda regional hospital for the removal of the corpse of Rev. Tah Martin. When I arrived at the Baptist center, my younger sister called me and said I shouldn't border coming, that they will soon be coming to the Nkwen Baptist Church with the corpse. Before the corpse arrived, I met a few person and greeted them. I also met J Praise and paid him so he will transport me to Ndop for the burial and back. The viewing of corpse was attended by so many people. The men, woman, youth and the pastors of the Cameroon Baptist Convention were there in their numbers. Some youths asked me why I wasn't dressed in the youth department uniform. I told them I was mourning that's why I preferred to dress in black. The corpse arrived at about 7:38pm. When the corpse came into the church, viewing immediately started. When I viewed the corpse, I couldn't hold myself but cry. I cried so much that my boss couldn't call me to come play the piano again. When the viewing was over, the corpse was taken outside. My boss then called me to come play the piano. I wipe the tears from my eyes and went to play. A few minutes later, J Praise called me to come immediately so that we could leave. I immediately stopped playing the piano and went outside. I said hi to my kid sis then entered the car. We had to wait for the car carrying the corpse to leave, followed by the executive of the Baptist, the pastors then our car could now follow the convoy.
On our way, we were held in a traffic at Mobil, mile 3 and Mile 4. Before we arrived Mawa, Mile 6 Nkwen, I told Darrell to come with my white T-shirt. So immediately we reached Mawa, @darrellbass was standing at the road. I took my white T-shirt from him and we immediately took off. When we arrived four corners Bambui, Pastor Jackson stopped in order to take his suit. It was just at a near by store. So in less than a minute, he was back in to the car and we continued with our journey.
As a result of the traffic, the cars which were in front had to wait at Bambili so all the vehicles could join the convoy. As we climbed the hill at mile 10, some vehicles had breakdown. We continued. Before arriving Sabga, we had to stop so that one lady in our vehicle could ease herself. When we arrived Sabga, the military control there checked our vehicle and since we were part of the convoy we didn't have to go out of the vehicle and show our ID cards. While on our way, I was really terrified as I saw the buildings which were beside the road. All these buildings were abandoned. They had all been penetrated all by bullets. That's when I realized how Cameroon had suffered as a result of the crisis. I also thought of how many people stray bullets has killed.
As we approached Ndop, the Baptist christains (BB boys, 3H girls, the youths, the women and men) stood by the road side and singing songs of the saints. When we arrived Bamunka, I headed immediately to Fountain Baptist Church where the funeral service was held. I immediately went in front where the late Rev. Tah's children were sited. I went out and removed up I was putting on and wore my white T-shirt. When the corpse came in, the service immediately began. The praise team led in praise songs then the service began. Immediately the praise team had finished leading in songs, speeches began. The 1st speech was presented by his eldest son Bunikih Favor, there after, other people gave their own speeches. After the speeches, the Cameroon Baptist Convention executive President came with the message titled "A Look At The 3 Crosses" drawn for Luke 23:32-43. The middle cross was the cross where we have salvation and the forgiveness of our sins. One of the cross represents a sinner who doesn't ask for forgiveness from God while the other cross represents the repenting sinner. After the message, we viewed the corpse. While the viewing continued we out. I spoke with the children and we snap a few pictures.
Thereafter, we headed for the burial. While on our way to the compound, rain started. As we approached on bridge, we were stopped by the Amba boys. They asked all of us to step out of the vehicle. They wanted to be sure the convoy wasn't carrying any military man who could possibly attack them. We stopped and went out of the car under the rain. After that, we entered back into the vehicle and continued our journey. When we arrived, we went into the house where he was going to be buried. A few minutes later, the corpse came in. I couldn't help myself but cried, cried and cried. 😭😭😭. But I was filled with joy in my heart because I know the Bible says in Philippians 1:21 "For me to live is Christ and to die is gain". So I smiled because I knew where Rev. Tah Martin was going: to heaven of course 💃💃. The Cameroon Baptist Convention executive lead the burial prayers. There after, my dad's corpse was laid to rest.
Immediately after we the children had poured our own ground into the grave, we went out to the road where the vehicle that brought us was standing. J Praise called me to hurry and come so that we could leave for Bamenda. I then took a bike and went to see him. Before I arrived, the same Amba boys stopped me. Since I had just 5000fcfa on me, I gave them and left. When I got at the road, we immediately left. I bought some mangoes while on my way back. When we arrived Bambui at about 3:58pm, the vehicle had a breakdown. We then went to a nearby garage at 4 corners Bambui. These guys weren't able to fix the car immediately. So we had to leave at about pass 6 O'clock. I arrived home at about 7pm. I joined the family in the family devotions and there after, had dinner then went to bed.
Though sad, I was filled with joy in my heart because the Bible says in
Psalm 116:15 "Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of His saints".
