Steemit Engagement Challenge S8-W5 | My Parents, My Heroes
Hello everyone you are all welcome to my post. In this post, i will be participating in the contest challenge titled “ My Parents, My Heroes” hosted by this beautiful community.
In your words explain what you understand by parenthood?

In my own understanding, parenthood can be seen as a lifelong journey (just like in the case of marriage) that has to be embarked on by two people with different unique personalities, ideologies and belief systems with the common goal of producing and bringing up children with good moral values and etiquette which would be worthy of emulation so as to prevent them from being a nuisance in their community or their country at large.
One cannot embark on this type of lifelong journey without adequate preparation and conditioning of the mind. Therefore, it requires a level of commitment and intentionality and it also requires one to be physically, mentally, emotionally, financially, spiritually and psychologically ready and well equipped.
Parenthood is a title that is being given to a married couple that have either a child or children and is something that they will live with till they leave the world of the living so this is why it can only be taken up by two mature, responsible and well educated people.

Tell us about your heroes(parents) (for example, what you usually do together, their importance to you)
Each of my parents are made up with different characters and personalities and it amazes me how they came together and complement each other so well. My mother loves cooking and she taught me all I know about how to prepare very delicious and sumptuous dishes. While growing up, I loved to assist her in the kitchen anytime she wants to cook.
This actually helped me to learn a lot of things about how to cook earlier and I never felt intimidated despite the fact that the society made it seem like cooking is only meant to be done by just the female. Her watch word all the time is that we should always ensure that the stomach comes first no matter the kind of problem we are passing through😂.
My father, on the other hand is a lover of music especially Reggae and blues genre. I listened to it a lot while I was growing up even whenever we are in the car together and he wants to drop I and my siblings off at school and we both danced to some of them as well which was a very funny but lovely experience. This actually ignited the love I have for music up till this moment.

What are the major roles of parents to you?
I would say that the presence of having my parents by my side from the moment I was born, up till this very level that I am at now has made me who I am today. Their love, compassion, prayers, emotional and financial support has made me attain greater heights.
They made sure that they taught me the difference between right and wrong at a very young age and also made sure that I had the necessary things that I needed whilst growing up. They instilled in me good moral, cultural and political values and also helped me to embrace the lifestyle of christianity which helped in shaping the relationship I have with God up till today and I’m so grateful to them for that.
They both saw education as the key to setting a good foundation for oneself in life and ensured that I was enrolled in good schools throughout my educational journey. They are still trying to make sure that I also get a master’s degree as well in other to boost the credibility of my profession as well.
Do you see parenthood as a scam?
I won’t tag parenthood as being a scam. I see it as being essential for a child’s growth and development. The presence of both parents in the growth process of child actually tells on the child and it has a lot of positive impact in the life of any child.
Every parent has their good side and their bad side so when two of them come together, one can call the other to order when the other wants to go hay wire and vice versa. So this kind of love, understanding and co-operation also plays a good role in shaping the character and mindset of their children.
Conclusion
Parenthood plays a very crucial role in shaping the lifestyle of a child. There’s this old saying that says that “an orange doesn’t fall far from the tree” so in reality, it is the character and belief systems that a child is being exposed to that shapes their mindset during their growth process.

You were very pratical about your explanation and I loved it so much. Your parents really provided you with basic needs I tell you. You enjoyed reggae and blues while growing up with your parents, your home must be a heaven on earth. Your smile tells a whole lot too. Greetings dear friend, our parents are indeed our heros because they are always with us from the very begining till we are mature or till when we become adult. They always ensure they guide and direct us through the right part even if it means them beating and punishing us. I wish you success in this contest my friend.
