Fundamentals of Reservoir Simulation
Reservior Simulation
In the real world, a greater part of the population is meant to believe that the computers are mostly applied to weather forcasting and space research. I will be explaining the usage of computeer in the petroleum department specifically in the reservior stimulation.
The application of computeers in reservior stimulation is to purposely predict the future performance of a reservoir and find ways in which one can optimize the recovery of hydrocarbon in place under different operating conditions.
Lets then dive to the different modeling techniques;
Analogues
One of the method is predicting the reservoir stimulation id the analogues method which I will be beginning with. With this method, there is the utilization of mature reservoirs which are analoguos to a target reservior done in an attempt to forecast the performance of a target zone.
Experimental
The next type of method I will be explaining is the experimental method, in the experimental method, we measure physical properties of a reservoir such as the pressure, the saturation; in laboratory cores and then we scale them up in relation to the whole hydrocarbon accumulation.
Mathematical Model
Going now to the aspect of the aspect of the mathematical model, it is one of the widely used methods in the classification of reservoir engineering methods in the petroleum engineering. The method incllude; material balance method, decline curves, statistical methods, analytical methods and reservoir simulation methods.
conclusion
With all this methods mentioned above, which are the analoguos, experimental and the mathematical models, we see that with the perfect application using computers one can can easily get the performance of a reservoir to get the production in the long and the short term.
The alternate goal of a reservoir is to incease the production as the production rate does affect the economy of a country. Therefore, carrying a practical test on this is quite essential.
