Goodday everyone! Accept greetings from @paddykam and welcome to this edition of creative writing titled 'HOW FARMING IS DONE IN MY COMMUNITY ' I have learned a lot from contestants when it comes to climate change and the environment thanks to @thegreens. Today am going to be writing on Farming.

Farming is defined as the rearing of animals and cultivation of crops either for consumption or for commercial reasons.
Farming is the backborne of most African countries and Cameroon is not left out. More than 80% of the population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. I am going to be writing on how farming is done in my own area, mile 4 nkwen Bamenda precisely at Mbessi Quaters.
Farming used to be a seasonal affair but with the advent of irrigation, it's done all year round. Both the cultivation of crops and the rearing of animals and birds are done here. Most of the crops grown here are mostly for consumption. Only the reserves are sold either to buy what they can't produce or to buy farm inputs. The population of this area don't have enough capital to do farming on a large scale and for commercial reasons.

FARMING METHODS AND TOOLS :
Farmers in my community uses cutlasses and hoes for farming. They grow crops in all seasons but the main planting season is in March every year. They grow crops such as : beans, maize, soyabeans, palm trees, bananas and vegetables.

They equally rear animals like pigs, cows and goats. they equally keep table birds. These animals are fed with products from the farms and some processed feed.
When it comes to the rearing of cattle, it's done at the outskirt of the community since they require enough grazing land. The cattle rearers at times face a lot of land disputes with farmers. Sometimes their cattle destroy crops of farmers and it's been a serious threat.

After planting of crops has been done, the farmers occasionally remove weeds and apply fertilizer both organic and inorganic. The crops are closely monitored until they are ready for harvesting.

Thanks for reading and bye for now.

It’s really true that most of our community depends on farming for their daily supplies. But you talked about lack of capital. Aren’t there njangis or credit unions where the people can take loans and expand?

Hello mme. These farmers don't even have the collaterals to apply for such loans. Most of them needs to be educated on cooperative farming where the granting of loans can be easier. Thanks for passing by. Am grateful

This really is good
No matter how much we drive towards white colar jobs
We need the agriculture

Your right sir because it will come a time that one might have the money but no food to buy

Lack of capital is really something, even though there are credit unions and stuff, many don't like to take loans. I for one don't like it. But it's the only way

Yeah sir. Those who have the courage to take loans don't have the collaterals needed to do so. Thanks for this input

Any place that the normal beans grows can equally support the growth of soyabeans. Thanks for reading through
