For everyone asking us to stop picking on the Lions... especially Papi Mukala and wondering why he's become the main person Cameroonians are targeting on Social Media for yesterday's win... here are a few things to consider...

Football is a game of passion

the same emotions with which we (over 24k people at Olembe and the millions watching from their screens) roared them on in support are the same fueling our anger...

The last impression is the lasting impression

Papi was unfortunate to be the one to dash our last hope to the wall... yes... he wasn't the only one who lost a penalty... but he was the one who lost the one that could have kept us in play.

Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown

Let's face it, how many people even know the names of the other players who missed the 2nd and 3rd penalties???Papi was the big name who lost... and so he is the natural scapegoat for people's anger.

Papi (of now) looks like he ate the Papi of previous tournaments
Let's face it... dude looks overweight, he's not as agile anymore... plays like he's carrying something in those shorts that he loves to lift up to show his thighs... he's basically not the player whose performance earned him a Spurs buy all those years ago... yet he's still very young

Papi's performance all through has been subpar

In yesterday's game I recall him leaving a ball run out that he could have chased and caught... the whole stadium roared in anger... which made him catch the next... I recall him turn away from an active play (inside the ring) in frustration just coz the ball didn't get to him first... a play which if he had charged towards.. he wld have won (and scored)

Papi is a representation of English speaking Cameroonians

Recognize it or not, he and the few others in that team are some of the people flying the flag of English Cameroon and their performance matters when it comes to the overall socio-cultural conversation in our fragile union.

Y'all weren't complaining when our women were posting you everywhere and calling you sweet names now were you?
When you've chosen to represent a people... they will sing you praises... and they will throw stones at you when you falter... especially when you make stupid mistakes that professionals shouldn't make...

It's FOOTBALL

We go cusssssshhhhhhhh finee... and we go continue...
But when next those guys put on those colours and step on the pitch... we will ROAR again in support and encouragement to them all
