There's this question that most young people ask nowadays..is it practically possible for a youth to live a Godly life?

Challenges faced by youths in the 21st century and what the bible say about them According to African youth charter, a Youth is every person between the ages of 15 and 35years.

Godly life is the quality or practice of conforming to the laws and wishes of God. Youths are victims to major negative impact of the changing society. Some of this changes spell out destiny truncating and destroying challenges to the Christian youth. Matt 24:11-1411 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. The challenges faced by youths are enormous, but youths have to learn to stand firm till the end. The challenges are:

Abuse of information

(pornography, social media, time wastage) Entertainment Materialism, financial wastage Examination malpractice, Unemployment, Involvement in cult, Drug abuse, smoking and alcoholism, Negative peer influence and gangster(ism) General moral decadence Broad way evangelism Ignorance (laziness) etc… The list goes on and on. But the realities of our times are here for the church in general and for the Christian youths in particular.

This is a fulfilment of the scriptures as seen; 2 Tim 3:1-53 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. 1 Tim 4:7Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. Something very valuable is at stake here. That is your destiny, which is what gives meaning to your existence.

Christian youths need to take heed and secure the destiny and future of the church of God. Without which, our destiny and Christian life will end up as a failed project. As Christian youths, we are being bombarded by these pressures, is it okay for us to accept defeat?. Asking if it’s possible to live a godly life as a youth in this present age is actually asking if God is enough, if the bible is valid for spiritual and moral instruction of Christian youth or if Christianity is still relevant for the 21st century? Dear friends, Jude tells us to contest for our faith in a morally degrading society. Saying it’s impossible to live a godly life is saying we were not saved from sin at all.

Some of the excuses youths give not to live a completely godly life. There is a long list of excuses given by youths in other not to live a fully committed life to holiness and godliness. The society has taught us how to create excuses and defend strong arguments. Some of the arguments are even drawn from the bible. We will try to raise some and debunk here.

The flesh is weak Mtt26:41.

The flesh is weak is a warning issued by Jesus to the disciples not an excuse for sin. In fact Apostle Paul even calls that we put to death the flesh, its deeds and its passion.

No one is Holy (so don’t judge me) Rom 3:10As it is written:

"There is no one righteous, not even one; This verses have been a major excuse to sin or yield to the pressures of sin by most youths. Clearly, that’s was not what Paul meant. He was sighting an Old Testament text of Ps 14:1-3 and 53:1-353 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good. 2 God looks down from heaven on the sons of men to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. 3 Everyone has turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. So friends, I don’t understand how we can use decide to go and hold to a verse where God is talking about people who are already perishing. Ready for his punishment and apply directly to our lives except we are actually perishing.

We don’t have Godly examples today for youths to follow. Heb 12:1-3herefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. 2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. We cannot say we don’t have godly examples. Think of men like Joseph, Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abenego. They had no godly examples, they were in foreign lands like us today, but remained focus on their pilgrimage. Dan 11:32bBut the people who know their God will firmly resist him.

Christ is our perfect example. Without earthly examples, we will be strong if we know our God.The realities of meeting our basic needs (pressure from life to compromise)We live in a society where promiscuity is legal, if you don’t corrupt you won't find a job, poor dressing is the order of the day, even the so called pastors and men of God are encouraging their youth to fit and use wisdom (compromise). We are becoming arrogant, rude, glutons and hurtful in the name of being real, being us. But the bible tells us of this youths who did something else. Against all odds, the refused to compromise, even to the point of death: Dan 1:8But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. Dan 3:16-18Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17 If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to save us from it, and he will rescue us from your hand, O king. 18 But even if he does not, we want you to know, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up." What makes it possible for us to live a complete godly Christian life Titus 2:11-14For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. 12 It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope — the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. God’s grace that brings salvation from sin appearedGrace taught and teaches us to say ‘NO’ to ungodly and worldly passion. Grace also taught and teaches us to live godly lives in the 21st century. We are purified from sin to be eager to do godly works.

So yes even in a currupt world we can make a difference we can live a Godly life. We are in the world but we are not of the world. Know the difference. Remain blessed.🙏

This is really a big debate , something we can talk on over and over

Yeah but the bottom line is..it's very possible for a youth to live a Godly life even in this perversed generation. It's not easy though but it's possible...God gives grace and it's sufficient. Thanks again for your contribution.

Really rich write-up there but I prefer that we Africans and Cameroonians Concentrate on economic and political emancipation and religious development will follow... In trying to confirm to the religious way of life, we are always reduced to lazy and less innovative persons. Thanks for the post of though

Thank you for your contribution..but there is no way we can ignore spiritual things. If you ignore it now you will pay later either knowingly or unknowingly... religion was not what I was preaching,I was rather pointing out a fact about how young people can live nowadays which will even bring about a better society and economic growth,

Come to think of it, if all youths in Cameroon are morally and spiritually upright, there will be little or no curruption, stealing, prostitution and the high crime rate you see today. So we cannot neglect spiritual things and christ-likeness. Thanks

Youths needs to be informed and transformed by the holy spirit. They are perishing due to lack of knowledge.
