The Diary Game, 03/03/2023 wedding preparations (Traditional wedding of my friends)
Today was a day full of movements, work and celebration. During the morning hours, i went to shave my hair at a hair stylist guy in the quarter, i got there and he did a good job. When he was done, i had to go and widraw the money to pay but there was no mobile money place around, he asked me to pass by and pay later. I went home and washed two of my shoes. One of the shoes had a little problem that i had to wash and take to the shoe meander. I washed the shoes and used a dry cloth to make it dry and placed under the sun. My mom asked if i was to go for the court wedding and traditional wedding of our youth leader in church and i accepted. She wanted us to go together and said i should get ready so we can go for the court wedding at 9:30am. I got ready and put the shoe that had a problem in a bad so i could pass in town and arrange it. We got ready and went for the court wedding.
At the hair stylist place to shave
When we reached the court, i was so crowded because about 6 people were having their court wedding there. All the sits were occupied, and a young man in our church stood from his sit and asked my mom to sit. I stood outside and was listening to the mayor as he was teaching all the couples about marriage before he had to issue any marriage certificates, so that any of the couples can think well again before signing as the mayor said. Our own brothers wedding was to be the last person to be signed. Since it was crowded, some of us stood outside and took photos.
When other couples and families had left and went outside, the hall was crowd free and we moved it. Two couples signed their marriage certificates and it was our brothers turn. Every one from church got in and watched. The mothers in church would not stop shouting and hailing with joy. Some were taking photos right infront and the photographers would just try to squeeze through because if you're to tell those mothers to step behind, you may get into trouble 😄. I had to zoom the camera and take photos of them. They were asked individual questions and witnesses were called to bring their identity cards and sign. They were told to repeat after the mayor. After they repeated and made their vows they exchanged the rings and hugged each other and there was celebration from every coner of the hall.

We were asked to move outside for general snap shots. We moved behind the hall and took some photos. The order to take the photos was easy and fast. The was a man who coordinated the process. The couples took the first photo, the couple and family of both sides, the couple and grooms family, brides family, church, colleagues, friends , mother and father of both sides, and personal photos of any one who wanted to take photos with them. I didn't take photos of all of them with my phone, but the litlle i took , i will just show you below.
After the snap shots, we are told to meet at the brides family house at 2:00pm. Since the time was still few minutes after 11:00am, i left and took a bike to town to see a shoe mender who makes shoes and arranges shoes. I went there and showed them the small part of thr shoe that needed to be arranged. We sat outside while he was arranging the shoes. After some minutes, some gun me passed on a bike and started shooting upwards. We bent down and the area was isolated. After they did what they did around there, i took my shoes from the shoe meander and left that place. I met our pastor at the junction and he told me to enter his car while we go back to the quarter and carry some church members who he asked them to gather so that he can carry to the traditional wedding at the brides house at 2:00pm. We came to the quater and the people he asked to wait were not there , and we waited till above 2:30pm. Some people came and we left and by 3:00pm we were at the brides house in our numbers . Our youth leader was excited to see us. We got in and sat down. After a while the ocasion started. The youth leader sent for me to come and take some photos of him and asked two other guys to sit outside with him because he was not supposed to be inside the house till the girl brings the cup of wine and takes him inside to show the parents again. I took some photos of him and we sat on one of the tables outside.
I later went inside to take some videos and pictures of the occasion since the photographers couldn't go that far to were the program was due to the state of place. An open prayer was made, the MC introduced herself and they DJ played slowed musics while the program unfolded. After talking and explaining somethings, they had to bring group of girls covered in long clothes sho that they won't be recognized so that the groom's family and pick of their new wife , and if the choosed the wrong one, they would pay for the mistake. The bride was not among the first set of girls up to the 4 round. So they paid for choosing the wrong one. The 5th time. The grooms family choosed the right person and there was celebration and shouting all around.
The bride was given a cup of wine to carry to her husband to and bring him inside to show the people her husband. She took the cup of wine and danced round the house and searched for were her husband sat. She finally saw him and knelt down before him with one beautiful smile and had a sip of the wine and gave him to drink . He drank and gave put money into the cup and she held his hand and took him inside the house and every one strood up and danced and welcomed them into the house.
After she took the groom inside and danced and rejoiced. They had to be blessed by the parents, grandparent's and pastors. They knelt down and received the blessing. The grandparents prayed for them and declared some blessing on them. The pastor also declared blessings on them and they danced together. People were so happy, and as they danced, people threw money on them. Some people took some photos and videos of them with their phones too. The MC told every one inside to occupy the sits outside while the groom and bride went inside to change their attire. Every one went outside and while waiting, three guess artists women sang their various music's four the bride and groom as the came and had their sits. The MC asked the DJ to play praise music while the every one that came with their gifts would dance and give the gifts. The couple's stood up and danced and received the gifts.
The brides mother had a song to sing for her too. While her mother sang, she stood up with the groom and danced together. While they were dancing, some ladies prepared the table for item 11( Food for the people). When the dancing was over, they couples were accompanied to the table by the best man and best lady. After the couple were the pastors, leaders and parents who were served inside the house. The population ate to their feel.
After every one had eaten, the couple went left to the guest house in town were they will sleep till and prepared for the white wedding. I left and wenr home with my mom and prepared to go yo the guess house because i was part of the grooms men and all the bridal train, make up artists, and some other people were to lodge for the night .
I packed my bag and got to the guess house, met some people already and i was given fried rice to eat since i didn't eat at the wedding. I had an assignment to do, and i had to read a 7 page pdf file to complete the assignment. I went to the dinning room, read and completed the assignment.
The guest house was too too tooooooo nice and well furnished. Many people took photos round and checked round the house. I greeted every one, placed my bad in the room and prepared for rehearsal again the white wedding for the next day. We were asked to put on white and black and we rehearsed all the musics we had to dance for the next day. We were up till 1:00pm. We made sure everything was perfect. The guest house had 5 sleeping rooms, the bride, brides ladies, make up artists, and sister of the bride occupied three rooms, one room was lock and the guys were given one room. We were about 12 guys and we all could not sleep on one bed and some girls also came down stairs because of little space. We allowed the two girls to sleep on the long chairs while the best groom used the room with the best man and one other guy. We used one extra blanket to put on the carpet in the parlor and slept on it. We were told to wake up at 4:00am for prayers for the wedding.
