Health: Understanding Glucotoxicity
Health: Understanding Glucotoxicity
Hello, my lovely friend. I trust you are doing absolutely fine. Today I am here again to share. I want to share with you another of my health topics, which I know you will find very interesting as health is wealth. Indeed, good health is wealth because it's only those with sound health that can be able to work very well. I've already talked about glucotoxicity.
What is glucotoxicity?
My dear friend, when talking about glucotoxicity, it is high blood sugar that is not managed that can result in a condition called glucotoxicity (sometimes called glucose toxicity).
glucotoxicity symptoms (signs)
As a human being, your organs and tissues might be harmed by persistently high blood sugar. Additionally, it may cause a decline in the quantity of white blood cells in your body, a vital component of your immune system. A compromised immune system increases your chance of contracting illnesses. Additionally, it may hinder the healing of wounds in any part of your body.
Here are some more signs of high blood sugar:
Extreme thirst | Abundant urination |
---|---|
Fuzzy vision | Fatigue |
Headache | Mouth ache |
Confusion |
The most recommended thing you should always do is to contact your doctor right away if your blood glucose levels are consistently over 240 mg/dL. If you are also unwell and are having trouble swallowing water or food, get emergency attention.
Causes Why does glucotoxicity occur?
Long-term elevated blood sugar, a fairly common sign of diabetes, is what leads to glucotoxicity. However, diabetes is not a reason for having high blood sugar. High blood sugar is typically brought on by an underlying condition, particularly one affecting the endocrine system or brought on by drugs like steroids.
According to researchers, there is a clear correlation between oxidative stress and glucotoxicity. When the body has too many free radicals without adequate antioxidants to combat them, it is said to be under oxidative stress. Your beta cells may be harmed by this, which may result in glucotoxicity.
Oxidative stress can be brought on by persistently elevated blood sugar. Other possible reasons include:
- Bad diet
- Inadequate exercise
- Stress
How to avoid glucotoxicity
As a human being, you should know that your chance of experiencing glucotoxicity can be decreased by lowering your blood sugar.
Initially, you must cut back on your consumption of carbohydrate foods, particularly
- Fruit
- Yogurt
- Milk
- Cakes
- Cookies
- Candies
You should remember that you don't have to fully abstain from these foods, but should be careful how you eat them. Friends, there are so many things about our health that we need to know, and as time goes on, I will keep on sharing some of them with you all.

I must say that I did not know this term, glucotoxicity. But it seems to be something similar to people with diabetes, I say this because those signs that you mention, thirst, abundant urination, fatigue, blurred vision, are very similar to the signs that occur in that disease. Don't you think so?
Is there any substantial difference?
