What you understand by Poverty? Define in your own words
meaning of poverty
People have different perception towards different aspect of life, as such poverty have been defined in various ways by different authors. For the sake of this contest, below are my definitions of poverty.
Poverty is a condition or state in which a person, community or country lacks the financial resources and essentials needs for a minimum standard of living.
poverty can also be referred to as the state by which one lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions needed for the satisfaction of his or her needs
causes of poverty
- Lack of good jobs or job growth
- conflicts
- Social injustice
- Lack of infrastructure
- Lack of government support
- High costs
- Lack of good education
Effects of poverty
- it leads to Poor Health
- in cause increase in Crime
- it leads to Lack of good Education
How has Poverty affected you?
As a person, poverty have affected me in many ways. For example, I have a dream of driving a luxury car, build a mansion, wear the clothes of my choice, eat the food of my taste, and travel to other countries in order to explore life. But that's not the case with me today. Poverty have made me to settle for what I have now, because I don't have the money needed to achieve all my dreams.
In not less than 200 words, write a poem about Poverty
Poverty have find a place among people around the world today, especially here in Africa where about 50% percent of our population lives below one (1) dollar per day. Some one might Wonder why poverty have found a place among us. Could it be that we don't have the resources needed to path ways with poverty in our homes and nations? Of course the answer is no, Africa as a continent is blessed with all essentials of life, but social injustice, high cost of goods and services, conflicts, lack of support from government, laziness, lack of employment, etc. Have placed us where we are today. Poverty have destroyed our homes, communities, and nations in general. A lot of people never enjoy 3 square meal because of poverty. Some die of some common disease because of lack of medical attention, while majority of children are lacking basic education that every child suppose to enjoy. Our streets are full of beggars, begging for food, shelter, and clothes. All these are what every human is suppose to enjoy, but that's not the case today. Indeed poverty is the greatest disease that human kind can ever experience. Poverty have deprived many individual of the basic needs of life, and have sent thousands to early graves. Many people have potentials, but the potentials are being cut short because of lack of the basic materials needed to explore the potentials, May poverty never be our portion.
