Hello friends,

In continuation of my last week post, today's post is the concluding ritual of Kumari Puja as part of Devi Chandi Puja.

On the Final day of threeday long Chandimata Puja a young girl child is worshiped as Mata Chandi. The main purpose of Kumari Puja is to show respect to women keeping the masculinity in control.

Kumari's feet are washed with holy water by Purohit and others. She wore Banarasi Saree and gold ornaments. She also wore flower ornaments before Puja.

She used to sit on high throne in front of Devi Chandimata. In order to protect World wide women respect and making it effective, this Puja is held. The purity of Kumari established the worldwide brotherhood and sisterhood. Kumari as real demigod give boon and blessings to her devotees and followers. Witnessing the Kumari Puja is a great holy practice.

In the Hindu pantheon it is known that the Kumari Puja was practiced since ancient time as mentioned in the scripts of Puja Puan Grantha. The importance and procedure of Kumari Puja is also mentioned in Purohit darpan in details.

In the year 1901 Swami Vivekananda worshipped nine Kumari as per the instructions of Saradadevi wife of Sri Sri Ramakrishna paramhansa. It was on the day of Mahaashtami of Durga Puja. This is still followed every year in Ramakrishna mission ashram at Belur Math.

It was held by a temple committee in their temple premises for several years for the benifits and wellbeing of local people and its devotees.

Like all devotees and believers it is a very auspicious day for me also. I wore clean clothes after a shower. I had very light fruits and milk in breakfast as I had to take medicines.

Finally at 13:00 hrs the little beautiful girl was worshipped as sacrosanct as living god. The Puja was conducted by a senior Purohit who has a special knowledge about Kumari Puja.

We also did the Holy act of offering Anjali with flowers and chanting devi mantra. At the end we had prasad and special Bhog.
