"Steem Cameroon Best day Contest - 13-04-2024"

Hello friends,

Last Saturday (13.04.2024) was also last day of the Bengali calendar. On this day many people complete their month long vow of sacrificial life of domesticated sanyas.

On this day they used to worship Lord Shiva to break their vow and perform lots of activities like magics to satisfy Lord for boons and blessings.

They put bamboo branch tied with a wooden bearing like craft which is put on top of big post. So that it can appear like a tree with a bamboo branch on both sides of the erected post. The erection of post it called tree plantation.

A pit is dig to erect the post with bamboo branches

The first step is to clean and wash both the bamboo brunch and post thoroughly with holy ganges water, milk and oil.

Secondly both are garlanded with flowers.

Thirdly the post is tilted by inserting its base into pit to place the bamboo branch on top of it.

Once the post is fully erected. The pit is filled with mud engraved from there.

Finally all male and female Sanyasi sit arround the tree with fruits and clour powder and other worship with chanting Shiva hymns.

It is not only worship of Lord Shiva alone it also honour the value of tree in our life and importance of tree plantation.

This ceremony is called Charak Puja. That's why the place also named as Charaktala. A three days long fair is also held. The auspicious day is known as Chaitra Sankranti. The entire month long ritual is called Gajan.

Though the ritual dated back in fifteen century and conducted by lower class people of society. It not so noticable by the elite people of the society.
