Hello friends.

Last Friday was a very important day of Shivratri, the night of Shiva for any believer of hindu faith. Shiva the lord of all saints of Himalayas were worshipped for whole night pouring water and holi bele leaf 🌿 , Dhurtra flower 💮 and some other white flowers without smell. It time to spend with good religiously like-minded people. It is a detachment from our daily life of desecration in the world of dream forgetting our true self. During the night all devotional songs are sang, mantras and hymns are chanted.

It's often misnamed as austerity, which is an unfortunate that this term has come into the English. It has come into our tradition as talking about tapas because we read in our books often.

The monks, they performed great austerities and we think oh austerities who wants to do austerity. That sounds terrible. it sounds so unpleasant. it's so forbidding. And so it spoiled it for us because no one to do austerities, but Tapas generates heat. It generates power Tapas is the the source of joy and so we won't use the word austerity.

We are identifying ourselves with the physical sensations of of the body or the thoughts and emotions of the Mind. These are mere coverings over who we really are met our coverings and yet every day. We're saying that on the one hand we say I am not the body. I'm not the mind yet. We say all this we become enslaved by them. Day and night the senses are speaking to us.

Actually there are twelve Shivaratri in a calendar year but the day of mahashivratri happened in the fortnight in the month of March is a very important as Mahadev appears on the night to remove all sorrows and pain of his devotees. I hope I have been able to explain why the day was so important for me and all the devotees of Lord Shiva.

I would like to invite three fellow Steemians to participate in the contest. @crismenia @joymm @eveetim
