Steem Cameroon Best day Contest - 07.02.2024 Wednesday

On last 7th of February my dream came true when I could take few selfie in front of Dada's Residence at 2/6 Biren Roy Road, Behala, Kolkata 700 008. Sourav Ganguly former captain of Indian cricket team is universally called Dada and his nickname is Maharaja means Emperor or King.

This is the house where he was grown up. I had been to this place once or twice earlier but never photograph his house. Once I saw Sourav Ganguly, Kapil Dev, Ravi Shastri and Harsha Beagle coming out of this house to offer prayer to Durga Idol on the ground, from where I took the photo, about fifteen years ago. Many cricketers like Sachin and Dhani also attended for dinner here. Lastly Amit Shah indian Home Affairs minister also dine here on special invitation.

The house was under high security cover and no one allowed without special permission or prior appointment. The place is protected by Police security both in uniform and civil dresses. The main door was open, I could see cars parked and busy movement of some officials. Though the house was built longtime ago by his father Chandi Ganguly Ex president BCCl but the house is well maintained. I was scared because of the CCTV surveillance. One interesting cutout of him for advertisement was left behind. So I took the selfie with the cutout.

He was also fond of football. He used to go maidan to practice cricket from early days. But he used to play football in local field called Douglas ground which is a property of Oxford Mission. The old church established in 1880 in the premises is abandoned. Now they don't allow any one other than church members inside the premises. A new church is built at the far end of huge ground which is not noticeable from outside properly.
