How farming is done in my part of the world.

Hello to everyone out here. This contest organized by @thegreen is going to help me see how other Africa countries farm too.
Let's take a look at some benefits of farming here. For decades, farming has been associated with the production of essential food crops. Farming plays a critical role in the entire life of a given economy. Farming is the backbone of the economic system of every country. Also it provides employment opportunities to a very large percent of the population of the people in a particular country.
One major fact is that, farming is the main source of national income for most developing countries.

Luckily for me i was able to capture some picture before farming started here in ghana, or should i say farming season.
I live in the southern part of ghana where the preparation for farming is done with a tractor most at times. But luckily for me i school in the northern part of ghana.
So i was lucky enough to see how the locals there prepare their lands and farm on it. Northern part of ghana is one of the warmest☀️ region in Ghana with an average daily high temperature of 34 degrees centigrade. With a yearly average of 34 degrees the climate is very warm, but has only a very few tropical and humid months. It is yearlong warm or hot. Due to the lesser rain the best time for traveling is from November to March. Sometimes humidity ist unpleasantly high from July to September.

The most rain days occur from from June to October.
Here in navrongo northern ghana the chance of wet days in Navrongo varies very significantly throughout the year. The wetter season lasts 4.7 months, from May 15 to October 5, with a greater than 45% chance of a given day being a wet day. The chance of a wet day peaks at 89% on August 18. The drier season lasts 7.3 months, from October 5 to May 15.
Farm animals like cattle are mostly used for farming even though some of them choose to use the tractor or the indigenous way, which is using a hoe and a catlass.

As you can see most people here use farm animals for preparing their farm lands which is a bit old method of farming. A tool which looks like a rake for ploughing is being put on the cow and a ring is also put in it nose so as to be able to control it for it to work effectively. It looks a bit fun when they are preparing the lands with the animals

This way of farming by the locals here in the northern part of ghana is a safe and a fast way i will say. Because it doesn't require you to put in much work.

The fields looks very nice and ready for plantation after the ploughing. Hope you enjoyed and leart something small about how farming is done here

The images are really beautiful and show the reality of farming in Ghana. We used to do this in Cameroon but i am not sure it happens again. Lots of farming practices have changed.
