So WORLD EARTH DAY is celebrated on the 22nd of April every year. It's a day used to create awareness on the importance or need for us to always protect mother earth from pollution of any kind(air, water, soil etc) and environmental issues. It all started in 1970 due to the negative effects of industrial development on the environment and humans. Today, It is being celebrated by over 200 countries.

In Cameroon, world earth day is mostly celebrated through the planting of new trees or activities done according to the theme of that year. For example in 2016 under the theme "Trees for the Earth",
Rising Hope Foundation For Change (RHFC) together with Students of GBHS Muea's Environment Club and some other organizations like the Green Earth Foundation Cameroon (GrEFCam) planted about 300 shade, ornamental and fruit trees in 3 school at Muea which is in Buea, Cameroon.
During the commemoration of Earth day, things like plastics containers are cleaned up the community, area or environment. After doing so, they can be properly disposed or recycled. For example, they can be used to nurse seeds etc. After earth day, the community can enjoy a cleaner environment with less plastic waste. Also, trees are planted on earth day and the community benefits a lot from these trees in the long run. They act as shade trees, some beautify the environment, they also produce oxygen which we all know is very important for every human and even reduce green house gases. Another thing done during earth day is to educate citizens about the importance of the day, education on the importance of planting trees, recycling, disadvantages of bush fires, cutting down trees and careless disposal of waste. This education will create awareness and benefit the society since the population will start implementing everything they were told or taught.

This week of April is full of fun activities and all. Honestly I have no recommendations as to concerning what more need to be given an international day. Reason because every single idea that came to my mind already has a day from siblings day to long-distance relationship day to national girl child day to world baking day and the list goes on.
