Have you ever wondered about a world free from discrimination, a world without stereotypes? Are you longing for a world where equity prevails, one where difference is celebrated and valid? A world where women's voices are being heard and are given an equal opportunities! Oh this is what many legendaries (women) fight and striving for centuries now, but how sad 😭 it hasn't been achieved yet gender inequality persists.

Gender Equality:
I understand the term to means given equal rights and opportunities to women, it doesn't mean that we want to be the same as Men, but we need equal rights and opportunities because we are no less than men. Over centuries women have been deprived of their rights and freedom, girls' voices have not been heard, and they are often excluded right from Family, and national to global decision-making. But this has to stop! Yes together 💪 we can forge a gender-equal world.

How I Have Been Helping My Community To Forge A Gender-equal World:

my certificate award

During my National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) years 2016/2017 then I was in Gender and Charity Community Development Service (CDS) Group. Our CDS falls on Wednesdays, so every week we went to Schools, Markets, and Orphanage homes to sensitize Parents, Teachers, guidance, and girls about girls'/ women's rights. We sensitized them on how to stand up for their rights when it's been tempered, women are vulnerable to amuse, sexual harassment, and human trafficking, so I helped them to identify dangers.

  • I've Trained and educated high school students on child labor/trafficking.
  • Creating awareness, of policies and protocols.
  • Training the less privileged on how to recognize the indicators of possible child or human trafficking.
  • What to do if they suspect trafficking.
  • Education on how to break free from child prostitution and sexual exploration.
  • Rendering of necessity to the needy.

Gender inequality starts from home, yes where certain duties or chores like cooking, sweeping, fetching water, and caring for younger siblings are assigned to the only girl child, what are you teaching your kids? To parents I've sensitized them to share house chores with both their male children and female, chores shouldn't be an obstacle for girls' education, yes every child has the right to education.

I sensitize Parents against child marriage, no matter what they shouldn't give their daughters hand in marriage below the age of 20 because this has been a major problem and barrier for many girls, you find out that so many girls already put birth before they turned 18, this has disrupted their educational development, and they eventually end up in the kitchen, this has to stop!

Where I come from most girls are not given the right to education, after their secondary education their parents will ask them to choose handwork, or get married that there's no need for them to pursue higher learning, believing that a woman place is in the kitchen, and the other room, that women's work is to be a good wife to their husbands and good mothers to their children. How sad 😢!

I've made parents understand that a girl child can become whatever she wants to become be it a president, Governor, Senator, Minister, CEO, Entrepreneur, Engineer, Doctor, Teacher Lawyer, etc, yes what a male child can do a female child can do even better, that all they need is the opportunity to excel! I normally gave them an example of women who are successful and even in power, a woman like NGOZI OKOJO-IWEALA.

Ngozi_Okonjo-Iweala_takes_over_as_new_WTO_Director-General,_1_March_2021_(50993534756)_(cropped).jpg
Source

She was born on 13 June 1954, a women's rights fighter, an activist who knows her right, that her rightful place is not in the kitchen, her parents invested in her, and today she is serving as the Director-General of World Trade Organization, since March 2021. She's an economist, a politician, a wife, and a mother. She was once a minister of finance, a coordinating minister for the economy, and a minister of Foreign Affairs. She carried out her duties responsibly and excellently well, so gender is not what makes a good leader but personality traits that a person develops over time.

A good leader is someone who inspired others and is a role model for his/her followers, he/she should be moderate and must motivate wherever possible Even in a difficult situation a leader must not lose hope. Women should be elected into power this will help to mitigate gender disparity, and yes it will be a way of overcoming systematic barriers to women's success.

To teachers I used to sensitize them to kick against discouraging or advising girls to take on a certain course or not simply because they're girls, no instead guide them to follow their hearts and unleashed their full potentials!

Can Celebrating Women's International Day Increase Visibility and Equality?

Yes I believe it will create a collective awareness of women's history, and understanding of inequity, discrimination, and bias. This kind of awareness will move women to take action and take a step that can bring positive change.

Are The Feminism Fight And The Women’s Rights Fight The Same?

Gosh! This is a very sensitive question, so I will be a bit cautious, as I stated before women's rights mean giving equal opportunity to women. I think feminists are fighting for women's rights too, feminism is a movement toward ending sexism, oppression, and sexual exploitation among women. Though some consider them to be extremists and many others believe that they are lesbians, the latter I can't say for sure, but in all, I think they are gender equality fighters.

CONCLUSIONS:

Women's main opponents are fellow women, and this has to stop, women need to love and support themselves and not see one another as an enemy, if we are in a prominent position we should lend a helping hand to one another to hold and get up too, not pushing them down. I have worked with fellow women before and sincerely speaking we've made a wonderful team! We've accommodated one another and accomplished what seems to be impossible! So Let Love leads, then together 💪 yes collectively we will conquer gender inequality! Thank you I would like my friends @drhira @m-fdo and @petface To participate in this contest.

After reading this post, I must say that I love how candid you are on this topic without mincing with words.

Issues that relate to women are usually spoken in hushed tones for fear of being tagged a feminist or female right activist. It's interesting how feminism has been given a negative connotation but that's about to change because, with the right people on the frontline, radicality will be apprehended.

As you have pointed out, gender equality means giving boys and girls equal access to quality education, ending child marriage/abuse, and encouraging healthy competition in workplaces.

Personally, I feel like religion and culture have a huge role to play in this and until we liberate ourselves from these negative stereotypes and views, then and only then can females be liberated.

And women have to stand up for themselves and the future generation. It's possible to conquer gender disparities. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

Women are underrated in many places. In some establishments, they earn less because they are women or single unlike their male counterparts. Thankfully, some people are beginning to have a different view towards this issue.

And you are right @goodybest, if only our parents will understand this point, you will often hear, "leave him, his a boy", while the girl toils through out the day working at home, equality begins at home, with the little things that are seperated for boys and girls, both gender ahould be taught how to handle things at home irrespective of being a boy or girl.

I really appreciate your meaningful contribution to my post dear. Indeed gender equality should start from home, school and religion, before it reaches society at large. Thanks for coming around dear.

@goodybest 🌹🌹🌹🌹
A woman holds a great and high position. Indeed, if it were not for women, the establishment of this world would not have been possible, and the reason why women are regarded with great value in this country is that every human being respects another woman. Someone is his mother, someone is his sister, someone is his wife. It is a duty and the religion has also given women the right and this is the reason why women are seen with respect all over the world. It is a different thing that in some countries women are not seen with value. There is a fight with each other but there is no such thing in our country. Women are working with their own freedom. That is the reason why today is International Women's Day and of course the women of the whole world deserve to be congratulated and you are the world. You are a great personality and you have won various awards which I can see in the post and I hope you continue to climb the ladder of advancement. And I have changed the pictures in the one you commented on my post I hope after some time you will accept this post and my prayers are with you.

Hello @shabbir86 I appreciate your effort in going through my post and dropping your contribution, but I will like to let you know that gender equality means given equal rights and opportunities, for example if you're sending your male child to school, send your girl child too. Yes what's good for the goose is good for gander! Any woman desiring to work should be given the opportunity and she should received commensurate compensation. Girls below 18 shouldn't be given hand in marriage etc.

Your post is very inspiring and empowering! 👏 It's important to break down gender stereotypes and give girls equal opportunities to pursue their dreams. Thank you for sharing your insights on this important topic!

Wow, your explanations on how you were of help to the contributions of spreading gender equality to the outside world was a very interesting and nice approach. But what you said about allowing girls to cook and sweep and do some chores to me is barely a factor that contributes to gender inequality. This is because at the end of the day, it the duty of the mother or wife to cook for the family. So whether a girl child is being taught to do it or not she will definitely find her position as a mother some day to come.

 last year

This is because at the end of the day, it the duty of the mother or wife to cook for the family.

You see why I said it should start from home? Who said is the duty of a woman to sweep? Please taking care of the house and surroundings is every man duty. And mind you I didn't said girls shouldn't be taught how to carryout this duties, but I said both boys and girls should! Note women's position doesn't stopped at being a mother, they can become whatever they want to, all they need is equal rights and opportunity. Yes we're the same in God's eyes.

By the way I appreciate your meaningful contribution on my post.

Indeed your post was very nice and talks a lot about what Gender equality is. My pleasure 😇

Yes talked you @goodybest of equality
When you look at the whole world with a real look, without any religion and religion. So there would be your limit for every jazz. For example
Brother keeps his status
Sister puts her status
The wife keeps her status, such as parents, etc., if you rate a brother to a father in this world, or rate your sister as a mother, meaning everything is more than your limit, then the whole world will laugh at him, because he exceeded his limits. So please think that we are lacking in people. Didn't we cross our limits
Nowadays, whenever there is no right, it is proof that it has exceeded its limit, for example,
The watch has been made for time
For the wind, when you see everything, the end is born for a purpose, and there is a limit, think of what we are born for, and what is our limit, it is therefore failed, said your limit,
Thanks

I appreciate your effort in going through my post @ahmad84. Thank you but I think you misunderstood me, women don't desire men's status all we want is equal opportunity. Okay 👍

Please 🙏

I agree with all your points highlighting the need for full equal rights for women. Women have come a long way in this struggle but there are still many barriers to overcome.

Education is key to teach children that women are human beings with equal rights, even considering that many are also mothers who have a heavy burden at home. There must be a change in the educational system and that begins with changing the policies of the official state.

I do not agree with the struggle waged in the streets by radical feminist movements that resort to nudity and public depravity, with the presence of children. This type of protest is violent and deviant and does not dignify women; it pursues other very dark ends.

You have done an incredible and noble educational work that I admire, trying to raise awareness to prevent child abuse and discrimination. I also agree that education also begins at home, we parents are responsible for ending these problems at the root.

Thank you for sharing. Excellent post that deserves recognition.

Greetings and success.
