THE WORLD TUBARCULOSIS DAY 2023.

My regards to all steemians Word wide.here comes my diary game of 24/03/2023. Its my pleasure to share with you people what tuberculosis is all about.on this day i got up from bed very late not because i was not aware time has gone but because i had in mind that my classes of that day will be interrupted due to the lectures we were expecting from the TB unit. So when i got up around 7:30Am i had to do my house chores before i prepare for school.

I had to wash dishes to keep everything clean before leaving for school.
Few minutes after i left the house for school ,rain started falling seriously but i was so fortunate that i was beside the hospital at that time so i had to branch there and hide from the rain. While at the hospital ,i moved to the TB unit to look at the environment and the activities that were going on there between the workers and patients. While there i had the opportunity to discuss with one of the workers and she took out time to explain to me what TB was all about. She also gave me some gifts while i was with her.

I recieved face mask,a pen, juice and a small note book.

Here am going to share with you all the knowledge i gained while at the TB unit.

Tuberculosis is an infection and contagious disease caused by a germ called Mycobacterium tuberculosis or Koch's bacillus. Tuberculosis is also called TB and was discovered by Robert Koch in 1882.

This disease affects body organs but most especially the lungs though it is curable and preventable like any other disease .

Mode of transmission:TB is an airborne disease. When people with lung TB cough, spit, sneeze, talk or sing they propel the TB germs into the air.A person can be infected by inhaling only a few of these germs. If you have cough, cover your mouth when coughing .

Signs which indicate pulmonary TB are:

*current cough for more than 2weeks.
*Weight loss.
*Fever.
*Night sweat.

What to do in front of these signs.

If you or anyone around you have any of these signs ,go to the nearest health facility and consult .There you will be asked to do a sputum test.

There are two clinical forms of Tuberculosis;

*Pulmonary TB.
*Extra pulmonary TB.

Is TB curable ?

Yes TB is curable. On a condition that drugs are taken without interruption till the end of treatment.

How TB is treated.

This is done with an association of many drugs taken fasting early in the morning. This treatment last for 6months and for the patient to take full treatment ,the health personnel, volunteers and family members should make sure the patient takes treatment every day.

Prevention of TB.

*Vaccination of children with BCG from birth,
*Control of favouring factors( sample hygiene rules, good feeding, alcohol, smoking and HIV)
*Encourage those who cough to go for diagnosis and treatment.

Advice to patients on treatment.

*Stop smoking ,drinking alcohol
*Never add another drug to treatment without consulting the doctor.
*Never take a single anti TB drug,if not it becomes inefficient and the patient will not be cured.
*Inform any side effects of drugs to the health personnel.Never hesitate to ask them questions on the disease.

THANKS.
