Creative Writing Contest Vol. 19 | Farming: How has the quality and quantity of the crops grown in your community changed?

Farming has grown geometrically higher in my community. Both the quality and quantity is now better.

The quantity has increased in the sense that we now have more machineries rather than human labour. It is now easier and faster to cultivate and harvest plants and vegetables.

I live in the South West region of Nigeria, we are not really into rearing of animals, this is because of our weather and vegetation. We have more plant farms than animals farms. Common vegetables planted include

Farmers in my community make use of watering can to wet the plant in case there is no rain, they also have pipes to pass the water round to each plants. This indeed has improved the quantity and quality of our plants.

Also, because the farm is close by we don't need to transport all you need is to go to the farm and buy it directly from the farmer. This way I'm sure of getting fresh vegetables and fruits free from insects.

The quantity of vegetables produced has also increased beacause some community members lease their lands to the farmers for use. Now the farmers have more space to plant and this increases the produce.

The growth in the quantity and quality of crops grown in my community can be attributed to technological improvements, improved farming practice, more farmers and the support of the community members. Everyone in my community supported this growth.
