A Day at The Red Clay Studios. Diary Game (16/12/22).

Warm greetings to everyone here. I hope we are doing well.
Today was the third and final day of the ‘Meet The Mayor Conference’ and as mentioned earlier, we visited the Red Clay Studios. I was very excited about today. When I woke up, I rushed all my morning chores and quickly jumped in a yellow yellow (keke napep) to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly where we all will be meeting to catch a bus to the art museum. I got there before 9: 00am, like everyone else was supposed to but unfortunately most of the others delegates came very late. We had to wait for an hour before everyone has at the venue. Finally the bus kicked off and I couldn’t wait to get to the museum. It was a cool road experience. We drove cruised on the streets of Tamale and enjoyed amazing vibes and comfortable roads and in about 30 minutes later, we were at The Red Clay Studios.

The Red Clay Studios is a Contemporary art museum founded by the renowned Ghanaian international contemporary artist Ibrahim Mahama. He is also the founder of the two other contemporary art museums in Tamale (SCCA and Nkrumah Voli-ni). The Red Clay is a nonprofitable institution so entry was free of charge. We received a warm welcome from the workers and we were immediately given a tour guide.
After interacting with the tour guide for only about fifteen minutes, I could say I’ve learned more about the history of Ghana 🇬🇭 than I’ve did in my whole life in the class room.

We got into the archives room where we saw and learned about very archaic simple tools and artifacts that were used in the old ages before recent technology advancements. We saw the remains of collapsed companies and institutions that were renowned and praised about a century ago. We saw logs of railroad that has been demolished about 50 years ago. There were also a collection of the financial records and statements of the ministry of agriculture of the Gold Coast, about ten years before Ghana gained independence from colonial rule.

All these old artifacts were collected by Ibrahim Mahama from different parts of the country and some even in other countries. He made a giant installation of all these old artifacts and remains, about 15feet tall.

Finally it was time to go back home. I had a good time at the red clay studios. This visit was actually my third time but I was once again trilled about the new developments and I couldn’t wait to be back here again.
We jumped on our bus and headed back to the TMA Auditorium where we climaxed the conference.
