Diabetes is a disease which is known round the world to be fatal or deadly. In the olden days, it was taken for granted because they thought it was just a common or irrelevant disease in the disease world. But, it became a serious issue when it started claiming lives on a daily basis. That's when people began treating it as a serious case to be dealt with. One of the ways was to seek the cure of this deadly disease. It was discovered that can't be cured when it reached its advanced stage. It can be dealt with in the early stage. That's when UNISEF took it upon themselves to set 14th of November as World Diabetes Day.

In my country, Nigeria, World Diabetes Day is observed in a special way. This way is the enlightenment and sensitizing day for all citizens about this disease. The medical team or NGO set out for the day as campaign mode. In this campaign, the citizens are enlightened about the disease (DIABETES), it's causes and foods or activities likely to cause it. They are informed about its effects and solution to the disease. The highlight of the event is free diabetes check up and advice to the patients stating the ways to manage it.

The impacts of this event is heavily felt by the people and society. Here are the impacts that it's felt during or after the celebration:

• An Eyeopener to the General Public: The general public are enlightened credits to this day. Some people who don't experience in his/her life or any other people's lives might take this disease to be a mere one. But, the enlightenment gotten from this event changes their mentality that if not taken causally, it can finish a life.
• Fountain of Hope To The Victims: Sometimes, the victims of this disease usually think that it's over for them. Since they have this disease that their life is now worthless and waiting for death to claim them. But, the event can brighten their hope that they can still live with hope. It educates them that they can live longer if they can follow some guideline or ways to cure it.

There is a layer in the Earth's atmosphere which prevent ultra Violet rays to attack you and I. This layer is known as the Ozone Layer. But sometime the activities of man do disrupt this layer causing it to deplete. Activities like Green house, CFCs from Refrigerator, etc cause this depletion. I think 17th of November should be set aside to create awareness about the Ozone layer.
